Another reason to not shop at Best Buy

Quote:

A tale of customer service, justice and currency as funny as a $2 bill

PUT YOURSELF in Mike Bolesta’s place. On the morning of Feb. 20, he buys a new radio-CD player for his 17-year-old son Christopher’s car. He pays the $114 installation charge with 57 crisp new $2 bills, which, when last observed, were still considered legitimate currency in the United States proper. The $2 bills are Bolesta’s idea of payment, and his little comic protest, too.

For this, Bolesta, Baltimore County resident, innocent citizen, owner of Capital City Student Tours, finds himself under arrest.

Finds himself, in front of a store full of customers at the Best Buy on York Road in Lutherville, locked into handcuffs and leg irons.

I smell one hell of a lawsuit here. If the guy is smart, and his story legit, his next phone call would be to an attorney.

I was thinking of upgrading my stereo in the '94 wagon (four dead speakers) but I think I'll wait until I have enough Susan B Anthony dollar coins from US Postal service stamp machines before I make the appointment! :D

Hell I would sue them till I never had future want for money....or my kids.....That is about the most Lame excuse to have someone arrested I have ever heard...I would be getting me some high calliber lawyers and go after Best Buy and the police dept for not using even a little common sense.

I ****** HATE Best Buy.

Like I need any more reasons to not shop at Best Buy.

Worst Buy hasn't seen a penny of my money in the last 5 years.

I'll second you on that one......their management downright sucks. I hope Mike Bolesta wins his case. :)

I hope Best Buy loses big on this one.. and hope it hurts the entire company.

I had an unpleasant experience with them trying to hook up a new cd player to my old 300sel. Unfortunately, they blew the factory amp and claimed that the car arrived this way. Strange since I came in to Best Buy listening to the old radio just fine on the speakers.

I can imagine the employee's standing around in a dumb ring staring at these bills wondering if they were real with 50 computers hooked up to the Internet only 15 feet away. Not knowing what a 2 dollar bill looks like is stupid, not taking the time to google it is idiotic.

I have no idea why BB has the worst electronics salespeople around CC is less than a mile away from BB in our town and they have fairly decent salespeople.

Wait I know why! CC pays commission......imagine that better wages = better employees.

BobK 05-09-2005 07:16 AM

Commission? Yeah, the CC employees will walk away from you if you aren't interested in buying the most expensive thing in the store at the one by me. Add their high prices and terrible attitude and I never go there. BB is rebate he!!. Plus BB must have a special school to teach their managers to be evil and nasty, no human is normally that bad. My poor father (a quiet gentleman) had a terrible time with their manager one time. HH G runs a cute little scam where the vcr (or whatever) is marked down to some price on the display, but when they ring it up, you get charged a higher price. BB runs that scam too on CDs and DVDs. I don't even think of buying one without writing down the price on my list and double checking the bill before I leave. The again, I had a hotel try to pull that scam once recently.

Its another reason to get everything in writing, since he shouldn't have had to go back there anyway.

chazola 05-09-2005 08:20 AM

As they say over here... "only in America..."

hope he sues the buggers:)

I used to hate going to Best Buy to get cd's & dvd's- unfortunately it was the only place local to me. I hate the 'greeters' they put on the door as you come in- I'd try and time it so I'd walk briskly past when they were looking the other way or saying 'hi, how are you' in that false sincere way to someone else.

And then buying something 'do you want x warranty?, do you want a free subscribtion to practical knitting? can we have your phone number and all your vital statistics?' -no, I just wanna buy a bloody cd and leave!
I used to tell them I didn't have a phone which led to some confused faces.

I'm not singling out this post, I could have picked anybody.

What in the hell does this guy have to sue anyone about? He was embroiled in a big mix-up with a lot of stupid people which he helped to prepetuate.

Cry me a m****** river...oh dear, I got arrested for being a smartass. Get over it, this would be the very definition of frivilous.

Getting hauled off to jail in handcuffs for spending leagal USA currency that the cashier was too damn dumb to know was real money is all the reason you would need.........if it never escalated from an exchange of words then fine....if handcuffs come out somebody is gonna pay...and pay dearly. The fact that there were enough morons around that this happened is all the reason....if it happened to me I would certainly sue.....for false arrest and everything I could legally get. This is about as NON frivoolous as the get...

If your Neighbor sues you becasue you have the same flowers they have....now thats frivolous.

Pay for what?

What does the police officer do when coming into the situation at the eleventh hour? He does not know the facts or the history of this specific scene. You bet your ass he's gonna lock someone up he percieves has possibly commited a crime.

You guys kill me. This is one of those things that you'd (BHD) be railing on if it was a black youth (who was percieved to have commited a crime), but since it was an old white guy you turn indignant.

Find me one specific person who was at fault in this situation and caused this guy anywhere close to enough grief that he should sue. You guys see this as a justification for a money grab from a business you don't like (who was not a fault in the least).
