live cockroach in a taco bell taco

My girlfiend just informed me that she ordered 3 "fresco style" flour tacos. Apparently, they ignored the simple preparation alteration and asked them politely to change the order. They seemed irritated and gave her the correctly ordered items. At that point, she ate one of them (who knows what was in that one) and then before biting into the second she saw a 1/2" German cockrach ALIVE in her food. She proceeded to show the Taco Bell employee who tried to grab it from her.

It seems as if they purposefully put the bug in there?

Is there anything else we can do other than call the health department and put the place under review? Has anyone else dealt with something like this? That is pretty ridiculous if someoene doesn't notice that they have 1/2" cockroaches running around in the lettuce.

I know this is nowhere near as freaky as having a finger in your chili but she specifically asked for SOFT not CRUNCHY tacos!

Also, anyone in the LA/SD area ought to stay away from the Carlsbad Taco Bell on 745 Carlsbad Village Drive.

did you keep the evidence?

If so, I think you should take that evidence and contact taco bell corporate.

Also get a hold of the owner of the franchise that this happened at.

Personally, if it were me, I would contact the health department, the proper authorities in regards to this, contact the local news, and get a hold of the owner and get a hold of taco bell corporate. I would make a big deal out of it.

Thankfully I don;t eat taco bel, I prefer real mexican food.

Alon,

Yes she did, keep the taco and they tried to grab the taco from her cause without that it's completely conjecture. I already have the San Diego health department phone number lined up for an 8am call tomorrow morning. We will also call Taco Bell corp to boot. She's actually at work doing some consulting as a marine biologist and is often covered in fish guts....she had a hard time keeping that 1st taco down along with her coworkers who were with her. They went on over to In-N-Out and told them what happened and got a nice inspected bug-free burger instead

Looks like we're not going back to the Bell either. We'll have to stick to local places and Poquito Mas

I never eat at any of the large chain fastfood places. Subway is the only exception.

I have never eaten at a KFC, and I havn't been to a Wendy's, or Burger King in many years.

I did get a hot chocolet from Mc D's a couple of weeks ago, I figured that was pretty safe.

Sue..............sue for millions.................we cannot allow, or tolerate even one, not one! not one mistake! It cannot be tolerated!

All cock-roches should be exterminated from the earth!

While were at it, I think all pests to mankind should be exterminated! Including ants, spiders, bees, termites (now that's one for ya, they definitely need to go!) and while there are many more, ,,,,,, Hay, we should re-introduce DDT, there ya go, then we can exterminate everything we don't like!

How did she know it was German? Was it pale with a bad haircut? Or is it that a German cockroach would play better on a Mercedes forum?

Just kidding.

I'd be pissed as this goes terribly with my food rule:

Don't look at it, just eat it.

I was bragging to a mexican friend of mine that the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to is in tinky little Sebring, Florida. There are a lot a migrant workers there and this place really stands out, even compared to all the mexican joints down here. Lots of mogrant workers here as well.

Anyway, I brought her back some food one weekend and she raved about it, up until she found a baby roach in her salsa.

The point is you never know.

At some point in our lives, we have all swallowed some little critter.

Drop the cockroachalupa.....Personally, and this may seem harsh, get on with life and don't eat there. Rent supersize me if you havn't seen it. taco smell/run for the bathroom what ever its called.....life is too short who has time to waste time on fast food. I bet the cock roach will find somewhere else to hang....Must be pretty traumatic to be almost eaten alive...

Or of course you could jump up and down and get all excited and call the news blah blah blah....What surprises me is that people are surprised by rat tails chicken heads, bugs whatever that ends up in fast food....

She knew it was a German cockroach (common name) since she is a biologist after all We had some issues at our old apartment which we are GLAD to be rid of which included some Costco sized RAID purchases. We did find both Oriental (black) and German cockroaches (brown) both of which are rather common.

Back in 1981 I worked at a camera store, we sold one of countless Minolta cameras to a customer. 2 days later the customer brought the camera back and claimed it had a bunch of cock roaches in it. While everyone who worked at the store knew there were roaches a plenty in the place (you shoulda seen em scurry when the warehouse lights came on!) we hadn’t seen one in a camera box before or after. Goes to show that even at the dawn of the computer age……the first buggy electronics we saw came from the mind of Minolta…..

Since then, we’ve had the dubious but highly memorable events of finding roaches in and around food at no less than 7 Asian restaurants. Due to this we gave up eating in Seattle’s International district. Ugh.
