For Australian Mercedes-Benz owners and enthusiasts

Without wanting to detract from this excellent forum, Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts and owners located in Australia might like to look at the forum recently launched by the Mercedes-Benz Club (NSW) Australia.

Whilst existing forums based in some of the larger markets for Mercedes-Benz vehicles are immensely useful and entertaining, I'm sure all enthusiasts and owners will realise the benefits of participating in a forum based in their home country. Often Mercedes-Benz models have requirements, specifications and options perculiar to a particular market and our right-hand-drive Australian versions are subject to this. Owners also like to discuss and learn of clubs, events, dealers, workshops, parts suppliers, and cars for sale and wanted in their local region. I would like to think the new Australian forum can provide all this without reducing the participation of Aussies on the existing forums based outside Australia.

For the forum see http://www.mbcnsw.org.au/forum and the recently updated website for the Mercedes-Benz Club (NSW) Inc. can be found at http://www.mbcnsw.org.au

Thanks,
Greg

Maybe, although as a fan of the W124 I would argue you got some nice ones too, like the 500E (E500), 400E (E420) and even the 320TE (E320) wagon. We did not get any 124 with a V8 and our fastest 124 wagon was either the 300TE (12-valve) or the 300TE-2.8 (E280). At the other end of the 124 range we got the 4-cyl 230E & TE, and later the 220E, CE & TE (E220) which at least are reliable. Oh, and we also got the 300E-24 which you missed out on, and our 300CE-24 and 320CE (E320C) came standard with the 5-speed auto which made them fast (but fragile and expensive to repair). For the diesel fans you also had a better range than us including the W126 diesels and turbos in them and the W123 diesels which never came here. One thing I am thankful of is that we did not get the troublesome auto climate control that appears to have been standard in your W107, 116, 123, 124, 126 and 201.

Not wishing to get too off topic, but Australia is the largest Subaru market outside of Japan (at least that is what I heard) I am not sure if that is based on population size or outright sales though.

The Subaru cars are great cars and especially appreciate the characteristics of their boxer engines and all wheel drive. If I didn't have my Merc, I would probably be driving one of these.

I must also state I would prefer to see the parent name used on the cars; Fuji Heavy Industries

The Aussie forum now has an events section for each state-based club.
