Do old dogs smell?

Yeah, I know it sounds weird, but I have a Lhasa Apso(Sp?) that seems to be getting smellier as he gets older.

He 's about 11 and part of my family so I gotta get him "cured"

He can't go a week between getting bathed and as yo approach that seventh day, you wanna kick his little ass outside.

I just yelled at him to get the hell away from me.

Any ideas appreciated as always.

Stinky dog owner.

The internet never ceases to amaze me.

I googled, " my dog smells terrible" and got a zillion(that's a lot) links.

Seems like an ear infection as that were the "funk" is coming from.

Vet for him tomorrow.

Dunno what your dog is but my old Cocker Spaniel had a problem with that as she got older and older (finally died when she was 13). We had to clean her ears out with those alcohol patches, it seemed to work for a while but it would come back eventually. I got used to it though, I never minded.

I couldn't have asked for a better friend... so I never yelled at her for smelling...shame on you

Yep. Helps a little , but I'd like to get to the cause of it.

He's at the vet now for his annuals. For 225.00 I should just leave him w\o vaccines.

Sure hope you aren't a gynecologist if you can't tell the difference between a badger and the other B-animal.

All dogs smell. What smells bad to us is wonderful to them, i.e. poop, rotting carcasses, garbage, other dogs butts, cat litter etc. Part of their charm is their affinity for that which we abhore. My dog is particularly fond of compost. Remember, dogs are scavengers and will gravitate toward the most stinky things
We had a golden retriever for 14 years and he smelled throughout his lifetime. I think that his smell changed as he got older and in his old age he farted a lot. His ears smelled bad, too. I guess my point is that dogs smell bad by default. Rubbing baking soda into their fur and brushing it out works pretty well. Also Pedigree Breath Busters work to tame that nasty breath. Sorry to hear that your little pooch is so stinky.
