I am for freedom of press but some Avatar's gotta go

I don't know about you folks, but disgusting (yes my opinion) avatar's have no place on this forum.

You know you don't HAVE to look at avatars...you turn them off in your profile under USER CP....

There are NO avatars in use here showing anything you won't see on the street or on prime time TV. Or won't see in any PG movie.

fine with me , I did not know I could turn off avatars, and now have, problem (I guess) solved.
I do not agree , however that just because you can "see it on the street or in any PG movie makes it OK. I just figure our society has enough problems, why support it.
I for one have young daughters and am appaled by anything that exploits females.
Again my position and nuff said.

Hmmm... call me crazy lefty! I enjoy seeing everyone's avatars. It kind of gives an insight into one's personal likes and dislikes. I guess the old 3rd grade rule still stands: "If you don't like it, you don't have to look at it".

Female board member checking in here. *looks around* nope. I'm not offended in the least.

With all due respect meltedpanda, it's ironic that you're complaining about avatars when you yourself have an avatar that SOME may not find particularly tasteful (including myself). IMHO your avatar while not disgusting, is more suited for an elementary kid , but hey if that makes you happy it's all good.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against you nor any of the avatar's posted. But the irony of your complaint is humorous . There are lots of more serious things to be peeved about than a simple avatar. As boneheaddoctor already posted, if you don't want to look at the avatars, simply turn off that option in your user CP.

BHD.. you know that you're taking a "liberal" side on this issue while meltedpanda is taking the "conservative"? The truth comes out

Being upset and offended by itty-bitty pictures in people's posts is hardly "taking the conservative side".

OK OK I give
A Peanuts avatar , surely you jest
And I am not peeved.....only offering my bit of positive energy to the world.
May be the only thing I accomplish today, so give me a break
Heck, I may just go ahead and turn them back on, just so I can turn them off again, just so I know I can.

No, that was Michael Bolton trashing a fax machine from Office space.

Hopefully this will get moved to Open Discussion soon - this moderator can't move anything from the tech section.

Anyway, the problem, as I see it is where do you stop when you start policing avatar's. You know it could be about like a political discussion. On the same hand I can see how you could get upset about it and having daughters. If I had teenage daughters I would keep up locked away until they were 21.

Peanuts rhymes with penis and has the word 'nuts' in it. I think I'm offended.
