Exclamation Laser Eye Surgery Advice Needed!!

It turns out I’m a candidate for Lasik after my pre-op examination today. And now I have choices to make (believe it or not) of which light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation (A.K.A, laser) I am going to use for my surgery on Saturday. So, if any of you guys that have had this done could give me some advice that would be great!

My choices are:

The Bausch & Lomb Laser, With Flying Spot Technology - $2600

Or

The LADARVision Laser, With Flying Spot Technology - $3000

Or

The Custom Wavefront Guided Technology - $3800

I’m thinking of going with the Custom Wavefront Guided Technology because they say it will improve my night vision, which I think I have a small problem with. From here everything sounds okay but it doesn’t make any sense how anyone would select a lesser technology to be used on his or her eyes. I’m wondering if some of this laser selection is just a way to see how deep your pockets go! Also, every plan can be marked up $400 for a lifetime guarantee. That is, if my eyes ever go bad again, and the laser can fix it, the surgery is free. Is this worth it? My prescription has not changed since I was a kid. However, the idea of this plan sounds enticing. I didn’t get a really good explanation of the difference between the LADARVision Laser and the Bausch & Lomb Laser. Does anyone have any first hand experience here? Also, their usual rate, using the VISX Star Laser is $1300. Supposedly, I don’t qualify for this because my pupils are too large for the machine, so they say. Anyway, these people don’t seem like a bunch of cons or anything. Actually they were all very nice and quite informative. I’m just not sure if I need the most expensive “Plan” or is the cheaper one just as good.

Any help in this matter before Saturday would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Adam

Howdy Adam,
I think you better come to California and have it done. 4+ years ago I had it done for $1600. I have heard some prices are down to $400 an eye. I loaned my info pamphlet to a friend and haven't seen it since so I can't give you any tech. info. You might google Laser Eye Centers. Good luck!¡

We just had a similar thread in the recent past. Too lazy and too late to link it for you, sorry.

Just kidding, I just decided to change my name to a cooler one. I was a newbe at the fourm thing when I started here so I thought putting my real name there made sense.

As for the eye thing, I have one of the best doctors in the state. He has done 17K surgerys and was the first doc in the state of WI to preform Lasik. He even gives seminars on new Lasik procedures. At least that's what they told me.

I see people are posting prices of how cheap you can get it done, I don't want cheap I want the best! however I don't want to pay for something I don't need. I was just checking to see if anyone has experiance with any one of these specific procedures. All the info I can find on the web seems a little biased twards how good each technology is.
Thanks!
Adam
