something on another thread made me think of this question and it has come into my mind from time to time. i once had a girlfriend who accused me of being a racist because i would speak with a chinese accent sometimes. my family was taught to respect all people and we also used to do funny stuff like use different accents (e.g. british, chinese etc.) at times. i also enjoy the occasional ethnic joke. do you think that is racism is it something else to you? i'm just curious.

I think there are several variables involved. It depends on who says it. I'm jewish so I can tell a joke about jews. I could not (would not) make a joke about african americans. It also depends on perception as well as intent. An innocent comment can be perceived in a negative way if not understood properly.

Forced equality of outcome is involuntary servitude of one group to the advantage of another.
