FWIW, I got a copy of Office for Mac and it works fine for me, but I use it in very small doses...

Remember that the major pieces of what PC users call "Office" was developed on the Mac (Word and Excel) and ported over to the PC. It is the defacto "standard" and the files are fully compatible across platforms.
The Mac comes with a very good email client. Safari is a great browser, but there is also IE Explorer and Firefox for Mac. |
The Mac version of Office works great on my iMac G5. I regularly work on files created on my PC on my Mac and have no problems.
As far as a web browser, I happily use Safari and Firefox. |
Our business office is mac based
We use MS Office (Word & Excel) for compatibility with the rest of the world. We have seven desktops, one of which is a "regular" PC running Windows XP, which we need to access government forms. I spend more, each and every year, for IT help to keep that one lousy Windows machine functional than I have spent on the six mac machines combined since 1984.
A curse on Bill Gates and his half assed "operating system" :( Jim |
Like they said. But my Mac's are ancient wide-ups and steam-driven (680XX, PowerPC, and a G3).

I just got a ibook. LOVE IT.
I'm clueless user, but it is easy. I've got office just to be compatible. I'll get something like MS money too. I use the mac installed stuff for software and have my XXXXXX@mac.com email address. I like the lack of viruses an the deletion of old superfOULus files. PC's seem to slow down and have to be rebuilt YEARLY which is a POA. Michael |
