Work vs. Prison

Work vs. Prison

IN PRISON... you spend the majority of your time in an 8X10 cell.
AT WORK.... you spend the majority of your time in a 6X8 cubicle.

IN PRISON...you get three meals a day.
AT WORK...you only get a break for one meal and you pay for it.

IN PRISON...you get time off for good behavior.
AT WORK...you get more work for good behavior.

IN PRISON...the guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you.
AT WORK...you must carry around a security card and open all the doors for
yourself.

IN PRISON...you can watch TV and play games.
AT WORK...you get fired for watching TV and playing games.

IN PRISON...you get your own toilet.
AT WORK...you have to share with some idiot who pees on the seat.

IN PRISON...they allow your family and friends to visit.
AT WORK...you can't even speak to your family.

IN PRISON...the taxpayers pay all expenses with no work required.
AT WORK...you get to pay all the expenses to go to work and then they
deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners.

IN PRISON...you spend most of your life inside bars wanting to get out.
AT WORK...you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside
bars.

IN PRISON...you must deal with sadistic wardens.
AT WORK...they are called managers

Never worked the cubicle scene. Inside plenty of room to move w/o asking permission, outside same thing. Transition between the two whenever and as often as I want. Firm believer the prison system needs to be revamped so as to minimize the expense to taxpayers. Also firm believer in revamping Congress to the point that lobbiests become extinct since government is supposed to represent the interests of the individual citizen/taxpayer not select groups of special interest. Both systems have become grossly perverted and we, as taxpayers allow it to happen.

Oddly enough the founding fathers never envisioned the career politician, they envisioned wealthy tradesmen and land/slaveowners retiring again into private life after their terms of service expired.

Human nature being what it is however, the emergence of the professional politician was a natural and inevitable evolution.

Soon enough wealthy and unscrupulous brigands, who had gained their fortunes in generally cutthroat fashion, these men, then called "robber barons"and nowadays CEO's and CFO's realized that it was possible to have favorable legislation passed that would ensure them a monopoly of certain goods and services, this cost much initially, but delivered mind-boggling returns.

Many, but not all career politicians have realized that in addition to having a short memory, the vast public is too concerned with their own livelyhoods and solvency,or lack thereof to really pay any attention to legislation that may be unwholesome to humanity, aided in no small measure by wise attorneys, skilled at discovering,if not inventing laws which justify their corporate paymaster's continued strangleholds on the vending of certain essential goods and services, besides, if people start to get restless scare them with threats of terrorism, bird flu,sex and other time-proven distractions.

Credit cards, finance charges, slamming,HMO's,Insurance, both Life and homeowner's,cable and sattellite charges, home heating oil, take your pick, never before, unless you have studied the immediate post civil war period, has there been so much corporate greed and malefaction, countenanced and encouraged by the "government" that will affect us for decades to come.
