What should an '81 SL with about 90,000 miles go for?

For ebay I'd say that's all the money. Doesn't say it has books and records, no mention of timing chain or A/C, not a good color IMO. Overall not a great presentation. A 380 will do about 6-7 around here but you can touch and taste a local car.

It may turn out the car is better than described, but I'd figure on dumping 3-4k into it.

I don't think that will be such a problem. If I get there and the car isn't what it claims to be, I walk. If there isn't someone that can inspect it for me, at least casually, I probably won't bid on it if the buyer doesn't ahve good feedback

The only neg that seller has, is from a wacko who negged 3 people,
after only 48 hours.

I bought my car based on the photos and descriptions...
but I guess I'd want to see the car, based on a limited info ad like this.
