Lightbulb The Million Dollar Homepage

I've got to admit, this is one of the most unique ideas I've heard in a long time to make money on the internet.
This 21 year old kid in the UK is selling pixels for $1 each on his homepage.
His homepage has about 1 million pixels and he only has 88,000 left!

http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/

Here's an article on MSNBC about it.

He is not old enough for his mind to be cluttered up to keep him from thinking outside the box like this. All I can say is "way to go".
Notice the ebay ad on his page.

Ok quick someone design a webpage and sell pixels for $.50. I don't know how to do it but since it was my idea give me a 10% cut or I'll sue you.

One of the ads on his page is a copycat page selling pixels for 20 cents.

The eBay ad is for some kind of eBay strategy site.

Congrats to the dude.
He's in his first year of business school now. Maybe he should be teaching the course instead?

While he's making money on this, it's certainly not anything that you might call a good business plan. It will only work once. There's nothing of value created with this.

So what?

If he makes a million dollars (well, probably 60% of that, after taxes), then it only NEEDS to work once!

Besides, since his site is getting press coverage and internet users are visiting his site, then there IS something of value: Advertising value. The visibility creates more web traffic to the pixel-purchasers' own sites. I clicked on several of the links.... Did you not?....

Make a quick million, before you even begin business school.
Sounds like a damn good business plan to me?

He could probably make another half a mil right now,
just by adding a 'page 2', now that he's got all this mega publicity.

He could retire on the interest from this, if he was frugal...
but I suspect that we haven't heard the last from this clever young man.

Well it is speculation, but you can still make a lot of money so what the heck.

If he was smart he set up a coperation and didn't have to pay much if any tax. I am no expert but I think he could roll that $1m into a trust of some sort as a tax shelter and not have to ever pay tax on it.

I remember a site called make Mike A Millionare.com. It's no longer active but the idea was to donate what ever amount you want to mike just because. I sent him 2 cents.

Seems like the kind of guy that will want to reinvest that money,
rather than just sit on it and protect it.

There was a site last year called savekaryn.com

She was begging for money because she had $20,000 in credit card debt from shopping.

She eventually collected all $20K.
I read some of her ramblings and was disgusted to see that her
new 'frugal' lifestyle consisted of not tipping when eating out.

Here she is, with loads of people sending her free money
and she doesn't even have the decency to tip the poor people who rely on their tips to survive.
