Factory Radio/Speakers '93 190E

Everytime I use the volume or fader console switch the speakers crackle or go in and out. Any suggestions?
How is the factory head unit removed w/o damaging the console?

The fader switch is notorious for getting dirty and eventually failing. Most modern headunits have built in faders, so the best thing to do is to bypass the fader switch and run new speaker wires.
