Lame : iPhone 3G
I saw that the new iPhone with 3G or w/e is starting at $199 for the 8 gig model.. not bad but if you read the asterisk the pricing is only available for qualified customers and it requires you to take on a new 2 year contract.I want to swap my current phone out for the new 3G iPhone when it comes out since $200 is pretty much what I would pay for a new iPhone...
thank god I didn't rush out and get the first one.. first adopters get seriously screwed by apple |

Personally, I think the iPhones overrated.. It does what a pocket pc did years ago, with the exception of the nice browser on it (Opera Mobile on WM5/6 does the same now tho) and keyboard (which is also now available for Windows Mobile). Theres way more software out there for WM than the iPhone, and more developer support. I believe you can get the T-Mobile Touch (rebranded HTC Touch) for free with a 2 year contract, and invest the extra money in some memory cards to get the 8 gigs... I convinced one of my friends to go with it and shes very happy with it (especially the ability to use the infrared port as a remote to screw with TVs during class...)

The Iphone has lots of software, since they recently released the SDK the list of 'killer apps' grows every day.
this seems pretty standard, every cellphone I've ever purchased came w/ a 1 year contract. I'm sure at&t is paying apple far more than $199 for the iphone... since they are capitalists, they'll prolly get $90 out of you every month for 24 months... at&t has a brutally efficient billing department... they WILL get their money. Personally I'm gonna go4 the 16gig iphone ($299)

yea, thats if you get approved to buy one... Ma-Bell is a royal b1tch to deal with.. I've been with cingular/AT&T for 7 years and have never had an issue, now they are really getting on my nerves.. If I want to upgrade my current phone at my hearts contenst, let me.. Regardless they will get money...
Plus you have to pass a credit check or something for the new iPhone. It's not like I am buying a car. |

The only killer app I want is a phone that can make phone calls. More and more phones are becoming very bad at doing that function.

I like the iPhone...
Many people don't even read the user's manual for the electronics they buy, they just want to open the box, charge it out and start playing with it. They don't care to read about every detail. Even if it hurts them in the end. (95% of electronics returned operate perfectly well, they are returned because people get frustrated with it.) Apple products can be used by people who are not in with technology! 1. User Interface: Very well designed! When you compare a Windows Mobile phone to the interface of the iPhone. Its clear which one is better. Many people just want something simple and easy to use. Apple provided the UI people wanted. 2. Less Devices: With GPS, this thing can combine many items: It can: (Be your phone) (Be your PDA) (Be your music player) Be your GPS device for your car and on foot around NYC or Boston etc.. Add almost anything with applications... 2. Applications: iPhone 1.0 users who JAILBROKE the unit it got all the applications they wanted. (lots were created buy people or teams who knew how to code. http://lifehacker.com/337863/how-to-install-third+party-apps-on-your-new-iphone-or-ipod-touch http://lifehacker.com/339834/the-20-best-iphone-and-ipod-touch-applications Now with the SDK release, official corporations with make some serious applications for this 3G iPhone. People will pay money for them, but thats the incentive for the corporations. 3. Price: As far as price goes, I heard ATT had to take quite a beating to offer the new phone for $199, no profits until 2010? Anyone want to google this and find out for us? Apple is not going anywhere, as long as they keep up this advertising and keep patenting.

I try to stay away from the phones that have the most hype. This became a rule of mine after I bought a RAZR...
