What to do on the first date?

So, I have been spending a great deal of time with this one worman who goes to school with me. She is 24 years old and I'm 21. We initially met by working with each other on homework, then we started running with each other and talking on the phone for hours at a time to the early hours of the morning.

With this, I was thinking that it might be a good time to ask her out. The question is what should I do? She mentioned a long time ago that their is this really good Asian food place in town that has "a fantatic atmospher". With that, I was thinking about taking her there, as she likes it. The other option is to take her somewear wear neither of us has gone before.

I was also thinking about some type of dancing venue. She has told me that she like 80's music, and latin American music. I will admit that I'm not the best dancer in the world, but I'm willing to give it chance, as long as she might appricate it.

These are along the lines that I'm thinking of right now. I would like to do somthing with her next Saturday night.

Finally, I was wondering if my ideas were coming off too stong as a first date. Would I be better trying to do something in the day with her as a start? She has already told me that she wanted to go to a huge car Volvo show/ swap meet that I got to once a year that is about 125 miles round trip away.

Besides doing her? OK. Go to the Asian place. Why not? She likes it. What if you go somewhere and it is sucky? Also it shows you are paying attention to her and may help you get into her pants faster. Find yourself a place with 80s music and Latin dances. Once again, it helps you get into her pants. Beyond that, I would suggest dinner at say 1800 and a movie and then the dance place say later in the night depending on when people start going there. You don't want to be the only one on the floor unless you are comfortable with it.

Then why didn't you just say "let's go" right then? When she shows you a crack in the door, that's when you walk through, rather than doing something that now seems out of character and forced, like asking her out on a date for Saturday night. Think 'spur of the moment' rather than planned. Oh, and stay in your comfort zone, which doesn't appear to include dancing.

From my days of being a man whore I learned a few things about these strange and wonderfull creatures. They love:guys with confidence, guys that make them laugh, guys that will at least make the attempt to dance, guys that are attentive, guys that are a bit of a challenge. Combine all these aspects if possible and they will be throwing there panties at you!:)

If you're unsure, try coffee or lunch in the daylight. If you get along well, it will become time to eat again, and you can go from there. Otherwise, you can 'have plans' for the evening and an easy out.
Big hidden secret? Girls want attention. If she has shown some interest in you, reciprocate. Don't push it. She wants to find someone to spend time with as much as you do.
Volvo swap-meet eh? IPD? wish I still had my old 122s

no no and no

No you do not want to go to the Asian place. She has been there before on a date and you are setting yourself up for comparison with another guy.

No you do not want to go dancing on a first date. If you could dance it would be OK but since you can't you don't want to be seen flopping around like a fool on the first date. Dancing = Sex. If you can't dance, she'll think you can't screw. On the first date you should do something you're good at so as to impress her.

No you should not spend 5 hours trapped in a car with her. The only way to do a proper road trip like that is an overnighter. You can't handle the overnighter.

Learn how to use chopsticks and take her for sushi or to a hibachi like Benihana. Go to an art house movie. Maybe a bar with live music or a concert

I agree with the dancing thing. I heard that somewhere else. Besides, it’s loud and very difficult to talk. Date talk is different than homework talk or shooting the breeze on the phone talk.

Not so sure on the Asian food thing. She may have been there with friends. I found a place here in Dallas called Gengis Grill. Went with friends and the food is great. Took my wife there on our first date.

Another really neat food experience if you like this kind of thing is Fon-due. Takes a while to eat dinner (2-3 hours) and it can be very fun. Food is really good at the place here in Dallas.

The way I read your question was that the Volvo swap meet is later in the year. I would not do that as a first date but after things get rolling … hell yea.

As far as dinner is concerned, I think someone above mentioned it but I would stick with what either you or her know. It would leave a bad impression if you end up at a place where the food or service sucks. Can ruin a perfectly good evening.

since she said that "their is a fantatic atmoshper" place in town, i would definitely check it out. if it happen to be rite their next too a bukstore or somthin, it would get a dictionary too.

just have her back home by midnight of course. it's the gentlemanly thing to do.

Meta6981 01-14-2006 04:15 PM

The early lunch thing sounds about right, maybe some coffee. i would probly check out this asian place and if its not too clubby or rowdy whatever, than think of another place. best luck when you win her heart you also win her panties. hehehe

Take her to a nice light dinner, and then take her for an awesome dessert somewhere else. The kind of desert that looks so good, it's like sex for the eyes (and the tastebuds).

I took my wife of almost 30yrs to a play on our first date in 1976. So, I'm in favor of a play or an art house movie. It will give you something in common to talk about.

Austin85 01-14-2006 10:05 PM

I vote for a lite dinner, latin dancing...

and 2-3 quaaludes. And pics.
