Paint not drying, help?

Ive got a speaker box project going on, and instead of carpeting it, im painting it... Its 1/2" MDF, with bondo and primer on it. I bondod, and sanded the crap outta it (down to 600 wetsanding). After that I painted it with primer, 3 layers (600 wet between coats) Then I spray my gloss black paint on it, and its been sitting for 12 hours, still "sticky" to the touch.

In the downstairs paint room, the tempature is 70, and humidity is 40* (makes my eyes dry)
The box is infrount of the dehumidifier, and the heaters on the otherside of the room...

Its cheap paint and primer, and the gloss black says its fast dry, am I doing something wrong, or is it just ****ty paint?

Would switching paint brands help me? Whats a good one for under $5 a can?

Also, If I need to switch paint brands, do I need to sand it down the bondo, just till the blacks gone, or just paint right over it?
What kind of surface prep should I be doing before painting?

Pissing me off, because ive spend 6 hours or better on this damn box, which is almost like a shoe box cut diagionally down the side, with 1.5" and 2.5" lips... Holes for 2 4 inch speakers, with enough room between them for grills, and crossovers underneith them

Its smoother then machiened AL, which I think is pretty damn good (no scratches visibal too!!!)
I hope I didnt waste a ton of time by shortcutting this paint, cause that would suck...

back when i was painting my interior on my mirage something wouldnt dry so i asked and someone told me to get some hairspray not the one in the aerosol can but the one you have to pump yourself.. and spray it down lightly.. it dried and wasnt sticky to the touch.. try that on a small area you can rember and if it works go all for it

Switching paint types would help more. Break down and get a spray gun. HPLV guns are extremely cheap and easy to use, but use more material than the newer HVLP designs.

Activated paint works a whole lot better than air-dry.

I still need to do at least another 2 coats at current application rate... Its fairly meager application... High Volume Low Application's more like it...

If you ever think the first color coat is enough, you're putting it on *way* too thick.

yea first coat and its you think its enough then your over doing it..

took me like 5 coats to do my grill to get everything covered .. youve got to like paint not to close and no to far and put a little on at a time with every pass. you cant just hold the nozzle down on the spray can and go at it ..

I know I'm not overdoing it too bad, this thing got all the way painted and bondoed, untill some ass stole it...

I'm not familiur with this brand of paint, Heres a pic to see if anybody knows anything about it... Primer was good, The gloss is pissing me off... but at $2.50 a can, I shoulda known better (or mabey not, depending on this threads direction)

Hard to believe it, but the paper its sitting on is WHITE I love cheap camaras, but I didnt buy it

anybody know this brand to be anything better then a can of time wasting?

dude its got 70's era text and color on it.. make sure it didnt go bad in the 80's. jk jk i would of probably spent a little more on a primer and paint.. i must of spent 12 bucs a can for the interior paint.. no primer just cleaned with alcohol let it dry and painted it correctly .. i used like 8 cans on my interior.. sad thing the car went to the salvage yard with a nice black interior

The paints from a local hardware store, Know the owner, should be 18 to buy it, but he lets it slide... I can buy propain, mapp, kerosen, paint thinner.... Anything pretty much...
Sad to say it, but hes going out of business because of a walmart up the road that has his same stuff at 1/2 the cost... But the people there dont know ****... Rant warning...

ANYWAYS Its a fairly light coat, Can still see alot of primer through it
My lubercint in wetsanding is a bleach based cleaner, and that hasnt effected any other paints I've ever used... I'll do a light sand and try again with lighter application. Then Im switching paints... Tired of this crap

if the last coat has dried i would go over it with another coat..

i once screwed up painting an interior piece so i just hosed it off because it was plastic and wiped it all down until it was mostly gone . then let it dry did the whole rubbing alchohol thing and did it over. i dont know how that would apply to you but thats how i fixed a screw up

Paints still not dry... I'm going to sand it down and try again with a new kind of paint...
