BMW's have always been a POS, IMHO, as long as I can remember. I guess they are fun to drive but, if they are junk, who needs them? I can't remember a single model that doesn't have serious issues. Maybe the M1 was their only good car?

Gee sounds a little like failed wire harnesses and spring perches.

I love my bimmer but I hate her fuel injection. She's got a straight six and four on the floor and she's a blast to drive. I hate all the electronic gizmos and sensor wires running everywhere. Truth be told I'd take a cut in power to be able to fiddle around with a carb. I think that's while I love playing with the mechanical-everything 617.
