Pittsburgh does it.....

I am a die hard Steeler fan. For years I hear nothing about the Steelers. Last year as good as we looked and some previous years we got no respect. There were ups and downs but we could come out and smoke a team and get no friggin respect. We could kick a teams ass so bad and all the Sporstcenter guys would talk about was how good Brady is or how good New England is or this or that. I can't stand the sports media. Now is our turn to put it in your face.

The bus is going home for the last stop.

ONE FOR THE THUMB!!!!!!!!!!

I always thought Kordell Stewart was a decent quarterback.

Congratulations to the Steelers on a game well played.

The only downside to watching the Steelers win is the fact that you cannot see Cowher go ballistic on the sidelines. The lower jaw extends and god help the poor SOB that is on the opposite side of that face...................

Actually, you only need a good close matchup to watch this.

Not today.

He's mellowed a bit over the years, not mellow but mellowed,
and has matured as a coach to the point where he is on the verge of being better than just good.

I am proud of myself. I took my almost 3yr old son to see Sesame Street Live on Saturday morning. As we sat there and waited for the show to begin I looked down the row behind me and to my horror there was some extremely nerdy looking fellow with a DENVER BRONCOS hat on!!!!!!!!!!! Lets just say the temperature rose a few degrees in that place. I kept my composure and just thanked the Lord that my son was next to me.

You mean he liked a team other than the one YOU like? Oh the horror ...

What were you going to do had your son not been there? Beat up the guy for wearing a hat with the wrong freaking NFL team on it?

I live not far out of Pitts and have been wearing my Broncos stuff all week. The Steelers are a great team this year with a great backstory, but I'm not going to jump ship from the team I've been loyal to most of my life just because I move to a new town. The Steelers fans have given me a bit of "trash talk" over the week (although none have rubbed my face in the blowout), but have mostly had the class to realize that not everyone has to root for the home team. Most people have fun with that stuff but really don't care ... if you seriously become irate simply because somebody doesn't like your football team, you've got issues.

Or you're a misplaced Eagles fan ...

Actually I was thinking of taking that little twirly thing with Elmo on it that I bought for my son and gouging his eyes out with it. Then just as I blinded him I was thinking of pulling his fingernails off one by one. As he started to scream in pain I would THEN rip the hat off and shove it into his mouth to stop the noise.........but only after I wiped my ass with the hat.

Buddy, you are rooting for the wrong team. Clearly, with that kind of attitude, you were born to be a Raiders fan. You'd fit right in!

All joking aside, I did read in the paper today where a middle school teacher in the Pittsburgh area scorned a kid for wearing Bronco's gear. He made the kid take the test while sitting on the floor and then he let the other kids throw paper at him and call him names. That is sad to humiliate a kid like that.

Yeah, I saw that story come across the wire when I was working the sports desk last night and was saddened by it. The ironic thing is that it was a class on ethics. I got the feeling from the teachers comments that he was probably some wacko trying to make a point about discrimination and be "funny" about it. A lot of people have no concept of what humor is these days ... it's like people who destroy things and say it's a "practical joke." Publicly flogging a kid is just not funny, but apparantly some people just cannot draw the line. It's too bad. I always enjoyed the kind of ribbing and competative banter that goes on between football fans, but again, you expect an educator to know when it's time to lighten up.

Then the Broncos had to go out and just add insult to injury for this poor kid ...
