Handicapped People! Jeeze

It must be mighty easy to get a handicap license plate in Georgia. Every third vehicle you see has one. I even saw one in Warner Robbins, Ga. on an F350 dually construction company truck loaded with tool boxes and ladders!!! It looks like they automatically issue you one when you turn 55. And the bad part is that most of the people who have the plates drive like they got them from having a mental handicap.
Sometimes I think people get them just so they can get the best parking spaces!

What makes me mad is when people park in the handicapped spot and they don't have a tag. That drives me so nuts I almost want to say something to them, especially when I see a little old lady and her stroller that has to park in the second row because some idiot could but didn't want to walk.

Oh, its like that everywhere I think. At one of the local supermarkets I frequently shop I see a young lady practically sprint out of the car and race in the store. Guess what? Yeah, she has a handicap plate and parks in the handicap space! Perhaps she was driving grandmas car (all the time) and taking advantage of the plate?

I think it is disgraceful. She would probably make her grandmother ashamed if that is what is indeed occuring.

Cars without handycap tags or plates around here have been known to have one or two things happen to them... Wiper blade removal, accompionied with a "you stole my grandfathers spot, so Ive stole your blades"... Or just a really nasty note, or a "cute" sticker

I often see these *********s park in a handicap spot using a parents car that has a sticker when there is obviously nothing wrong with them.

One of the few things that disabled people have easy for them is that parking and it gets abused.

I walk or ride my bike to work because parking is in such high demand... and, well, I prefer the exercise too. Anyway, there is an obese smoker in a nearby building who somehow gets a handicapped plate. THAT gets my knickers in a twist. This individual zips right in and waltzes into her workplace during peak parking-madness hours, while everyone else is frantically looking for a spot. Sorry, but if you are unwilling to even quit smoking to help ease your "disability" (whatever it might be), do you deserve a special parking spot?

A pet peeve of mine for sure. Truly handicapped people really need a break and taking advantage of them in any way just pisses me off. Tells a lot about character.

One of the few things that disabled people have easy for them is that parking and it gets abused.
Burbank at the Media Center parking complex: Any car found by the four bicycle cops, parking in a disabled person's space without either proper plates or placard, gets a Denver boot installed. Then the car is towed even if the owner shows up. $330 fine plus 80% assessment fee at court. $50 boot fee, $75 towing fee and $45 a day impound fee. Only the registered owner can retrieve the vehicle by showing photo ID and current registration and insurance.

Marina del Rey: Just a citation is issued. $330 fine plus 50% court assessment.

Maui: $250 fine. Rental cars are impounded at once.

Sometimes a task force gets the solo *********s in the HOV diamond lanes on the freeway.

People driving with a cell phone held up to their ear should be shot on the spot.

In Michigan, a handicapper tag or license and the handicapper must be present for the vehicle to legally park in a handicap spot.

So, if you take Gran's or Gramp's land yacht, and they are not along for the ride, you can be issued a citation for parking improperly. It's about $100-$200, and can also add 'points' on your license...

Some communities have formed patrols that look for just such incidents. The regular PD will back them up in an instant, too.

In a nutshell, my opinion is that if you're handicapped you don't need to be out here in everyone else' way. Some 80 year old blind guy crosses the center line and wipes out a family of four. That ain't right. If you cannot function correctly then the highway is no place for you to malfunction.

Problem's worst in the big cities where parking is impossible

In San Francisco the abuse of handicapped plates/placards has gotten to such a level that a special enforcement task force had to be initiated just for this problem. Especially around the City Hall, SFPD, and Courthouse, virtually every vehicle parked around the blocks has a handicapped placard on the dash. And the SFPD officers park their personal vehicles wherever they please when they go on shift, and don't get tickets.

In Chinatown you could get one on the black market if you paid $300

I knew a Vietnamese interpreter (not handicapped) who had a handicapped placard for her 560SL when I asked her what she was doing with it she got really angry at *me*
