Why do you think men (or women) cheat and fu*k other people when they are in relationships? I just don't understand it.

Nothing (thank god!) I'm just wondering what some of the motivators are...

With men, I think it's innate to want to screw everything he can get his hands on. The woman part, I'm not too sure of it, because relationships for them are generally more emotion-relative than with that of a male; so maybe women do these kind of things because of the way their man has been treating them? By the way, I am a male, so don't think I'm bashing guys.

It may be directly linked to the Human Genetic Make-up or moreover the genetic codes of all living things in the sense of self preservation and the need to propagate the lineage . If monogamy had been a bigger part of the code in the beginnig ;would we be having a discusuion on this ?

If you have one sex that only ovulates once a month, and ovulation is not evident, reliable reproduction requires a lot of f**cking to make the system work. It seems as though, over time, the system would select for species members with high sex drives.
Does the social system of monogamy derive from the need of men to know who their children are? Women have no doubt as to maternity.
Now that we've gotten beyond that stage, and gained knowledge of ovulation, and means to determine paternity independent of monogamy, we can just f**ck for reproduction a few times in our lives and turn sex into a recreational activity. Once this happens, the opportunities for variation are endless and the need for monogomy seriously diminished.

I think in many cases for men and women it is biolgy related.
In general male animals mate with as many females as they can, trying to spread their superior genes. I think this is a big reason men are so danged horny.
For women in the animal world the females tend to rely on the males to provide for them. When the males stops providing or cannot provide her any more she starts looking for another mate.
This is a pretty stripped down idea from a biologist/ecologist, but I think on the basic level this could explain a lot of cheating.

There are lots of other reasons people can cheat. The excitement of begin caught. Drugs and alcohol.

However one gets to that point, and although there are a myriad of individual reasons or excuses for getting there, it so very often boils down to a single word answer; Boredom.

I dunno what makes people do it, I just know that my relationship with my wife is not worth risking.

I see women and say damn, if only....but I saw firsthand what my fathers weakness, and his father before him did to their immediate family and decided long ago that I would not put mine thru that.

I waited until I was over 30 to get married, although I had already had a kid with my (future) wife at the time. While I wasn't a pig, I was out of the relationship with her as a mate for awhile and had my fun.

They don't do it if the risks are high. I suspect the reward of the illicit sex sometimes outweights the risk and so they do it.
