W126 Vacuum Assist Pump
hi..1989 300se....w126...concerning the location of the door lock vacuum assist pump...i read one thing that says the pump is over the drivers side rear wheel well and is accessed through the trunk.....and another that says it under the rear seat.....anyone got any experience changing out this pump..?..is it labor intensive..?..i know the part is around 300 bucks unless you get one from salvage...thanks for any help

In my 124 it's under the rear seat (passenger side under some insulation)
Not labor intensive (5 min.) but before you spring for a new one... you might want to jump it (with some long wires) to your battery. to see if it is functional (I bought a junk yard one before testing it and found out I had a bad wire after buying it) If you end up buying a salvage yard pump let me know... I could sell you mine cheap (if it's the same part# that is).

It's in the trunk underneath a plastic cover.

On a W126 it is in the spare tire well. Open it up and you will see a foam block in the lower right hand corner of the well. Thats the electric vac pump.
You can bank on it being their.
