Any football fans out there???

Personally, I've been a die-hard N.Y. Giants fan since I could walk. I'm not sure who I want to win today. I'll probably go with the underdog as the game develops. How about the rest of you?. Anyone from outside the U.S. interested in the Super Bowl? Got a favorite team? Let's hear it!!!

I would be happy if either team wins.

However, I guess I would like to see Seattle win as they've never won one before. Pittsburgh has won four.

I was torn. I like Pittsburg a lot. OTOH, I lived in Seattle from '74 to '94, roughly, and I saw many a game on TV with Jim Zorn hitting Steve Largent with a beautiful pass. Unfortunately, they never had sufficient supporting cast.

A couple of years ago, they had a halftime quiz question: "What 4 current NFL teams have never been to the Super Bowl?"

I'm all, "I know, I know!!" At least on one of them... the Hawks.

I'm not normally one to rag on the refs but there were so many questionable calls that went against Seattle. The TD denied cuz of questionable offensive interference. Steve Young said "that's a touchdown," and the other guys agreed. The reception at Pitt's 1 yard line that was called back, again the announcers couldn't spot the infraction in replays.

To add insult to injury, you know how Ruthlessburger is made the hero for his tackle (I liked the play too) a couple of games back that saved a TD? OK, Hasslebeck does a similar deal, tackles the guy that intercepted his pass, only this guy had better blocking than the guy Rothlesburger tackled, and they hit Hasslebeck with a 15 yard F***ing Penalty! Since when do you be polite when you're tackling the guy with the ball? The alleged infraction happened after the tackle, on one of the guy's blockers. Again, the announcers are shaking their heads over it.

I dunno, I hate to be paranoid, but it's obvious the clear favorite of the league and most everyone else was Pittburg. Can't have some espresso swilling bunch o' pussies owned by a Microsoft billionaire rain on that parade.

I agree that the call on Hasselback was BS. But don't insult me and tell me that was a tackle. He basically threw himself at Townsend's legs and he went down. At least when Ben makes a stupid move like that he displays some athletic ability.

Oh well, the guy had two blockers and the QB took him down. Crude but effective. How else was he going to get in between those two guys and grab the dude?

Rothlesburger's tackle (two games back) was way cool, no doubt about it. I wish they hadn't played Seattle, cause I was happy to root for the Steelers against anyone else.

Speaking of stupid moves by Ben, remember the play where he tried to gain 3 more inches by smashing his right shoulder into a defender? If it had been a potential TD or first down, maybe, but that was not smart football. I like the dude though.

We call it soccer. Europeans call it football. Hope that clears a few things up.

Wow... we agree!

But, then, the officiating in XL was apropos given the pi$$-poor officiating all year long. The phantom hold, the ticky-tack push-off in the endzone, the low tackle, etc... all-in-all a VERY poor showing by the zebras.

I'll agree with that. OTOH, Seattle screwed up here and there. A little more running perhaps, a couple of interceptions avoided and they might have won this game. Still, the reversal of fortune after that 1 yard line reception in the 4th quarter was called back (I wanted to see a whole bunch more of the replays on that one) was hard to take. Don't know why Holmgren didn't challenge that one. It would have been a game breaker.

Oh well, let's hope the Hawks get another chance next year.
