Whoaaa dog new keyboard and mouse.
My old optical mouse died so I invested in a new logitech LX 501 keyboard and mouse, the shortcut buttons on the keyboard and mouse rock. The keyboard types very nice and the mouse tracks like a Ferrari.

Yet another cu-n-paste to ***** about. Or ignore.
Bot Mac OS X malware divides anti-virus community First posted 09:50pm (Mla time) Feb 17, 2006 By Erwin Lemuel Oliva INQ7.net A RECENTLY discovered Mac OS X virus has prompted a debate among experts with opposing views on a computer malware that infects Apple computers. Disclosed in a Macintosh online public forum, there is now some controversy on whether to label this a Trojan or a virus since it has the qualities of both, according to the Philippine Honeynet Project team. "Sophos and most antivirus companies label it a virus but some security experts from the Securityfocus company label it a Trojan," said the Philippine Honeynet Project lead analyst Mark Ryan Talabis. Intego, a Mac security company, announced the Mac OS X virus/Trojan on February 14. Users have disclosed in the Macintosh forum that they began noticing a file, "latestpics.tgz," being sent to them as an attachment through the iChat messaging system. They had expected it to be a screenshots of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, a new version of the operating system. "Since the attachment comes from their 'buddies' list using iChat, users usually have no qualms about opening compressed attachments," Talabis said. "Just goes to show you just can't trust anybody in the Web today." Having seen a trend of viruses and computer malware being developed for the Mac over the past few months, Philippine Honeynet has started doing its own research on Mac viruses. Talabis said he has observed a noticeable shift in security research with the Mac in mind, in anticipation of the new Intel-based Macs becoming more enticing targets to hackers. "This Trojan/virus is probably a first sign that this trend may indeed solidify to a real threat someday," Talabis said, adding however that the Mac OS X malware is not as "destructive as the past malware that we've encountered." SophosLabs has also warned that the Apple Mac OS X malware known as Oompa-A indicated that OS X was also vulnerable. "Some owners of Mac computers have held the belief that Mac OS X is incapable of harboring computer viruses, but Leap-A will leave them shell-shocked, as it shows that the malware threat on Mac OS X is real," said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos. "Mac users shouldn't think it's okay to lie back and not worry about viruses,” he observed, adding that this is the first real virus for the Mac OS X platform. He advised Apple Mac users “to be just as careful running unknown or unsolicited code on their computers as their friends and colleagues running Windows." More information about the virus/Trojan can be viewed here. |
