Argentina Ford Motor Co. goes to Court for Torturing Employees!!

BBC NEWS

Ford sued over Argentine abuses

[Former workers of an Argentine Ford factory are suing the firm over what they say were serious abuses during the military rule of the 1970s and 80s.

[They say local managers conspired with the security forces to have union members taken to a detention centre on the premises, where they were tortured.

[One of the plaintiffs, Pedro Troiani, alleges: "Some of us were kidnapped by the military inside the factory and taken to a clandestine, makeshift detention centre near the factory's sports centre. "There we were hooded, beaten, forced to face mock firing squads and tortured. Some were given electric shocks." ]

Lots of union workers killed in this country in the past for going on strike. Colorado has a particularly nasty history of Rockefeller owned coal mines killing its striking workers. Dead wage slaves are just a part of business.

Fords in Argentina are like stepping back in time. When Ford models expire in the US, they must ship all the machinery to Argentina where they continue manufacturing them. When I was there in the 70's I remember looking at what I thought were 'mint' 1960's Ford Falcons. Turns out they were brand new cars.
Went to a stock car race. There were two classe: Pre-1935 models and Post-1935 models.

Dead wage slave are part of the business? I think it would be a long stretch to call modern auto workers dead wage slaves since most if not all American auto workers are well above the average hourly wage.

How much are current UAW auto industry wages?

As of the second quarter of 2003, a UAW-represented assembler earns $25.63 per hour of straight time. A typical UAW-represented skilled-trades worker earns $29.75 per hour of straight time. Between 1992 and 2002, inflation-adjusted real wages for UAW-represented autoworkers increased by 13.5 percent. This is a compounded annual pay increase, after inflation, of 1.28 percent.

That's why unions are (were?) such a threat that they needed to be dealt with ruthlessly.

Hitler commissioned Ferdinand Porsche's plant to design and produce a car for the masses...a "People's Car" hence the translation "Volks"-wagen.
