PETA: animal treatment = the lynching and enslavement of black Americans

These people are over the top! We've all heard news stories about some of their ridiculous antics, but this really takes the cake!

"One image presented by PETA featured a chained elephant foot juxtaposed with the chained foot of a slave. Another showed black individuals hanging from a tree by their necks contrasted with the image of a cow being hung by its hind legs."

That is revolting and it makes me mad to think that those fools reduce humanity to the value of animals.

Are you suggesting humans aren't animals? Don't real botanists have to take a basic biology course first?

Wink

The point is not to compare people to animals, or to make light of slavery.
People who care this much about animals also care about people too. So agian that's not their point. (and I'm not in PETA..)
IMO..I think they are just trying to get people outraged enough to help stop cruelty to animals.
It's said , and as a vegetarian of 10+ YEARS, I agree; THAT , WHEN AN ANIMAL IS SLAUGHTERED THE RAGE PASSES THROUGH THEM TO THE PEOPLE WHO EAT THEIR MEAT. I think it's an actual scientific fact...(caps lock by mistake..)
I can say from experience and many notice this in non meat eaters, that after you stop eating animal flesh you definetly mellow out quite a bit....AND in todays society THAT is probaly a good thing to happen.
Now guys who just inhaled a plate fulll of triple cheeseburgers probably will just say "BUll****!" but it's "food for thought...".

I wouldn't dismiss it off hand.

I do question the scientific fact part. I would also like to know where to find friendlier livestock (free rage chicken?).

Biologically and evolutionarily we are animals. Culturally, we are something entirely different.

.. picture this ; Cattle or pigs or what ever lined up on a conveyer belt watching avery one before them gettin their heads smashed open; ( or in the case of the cows being hung up by one leg and their throats slit open,,,,) going into a complete mad rage trying to figure a way not to be next;
and the hormones that are rushing through their bodies just at the point they are slaughtered. Those hormones are actually present in their flesh when they are served to people.

So try finding "rage free" chickens...........

So your method would be to sneak up on them?

Cows don't know they're next. Cows know moo....no more moo. And even that is probably a stretch.

I'm guessing you've never worked in a slaughterhouse.

The one I worked in had a pole with a pressure plate that when depressed, fired a .22 cartridge. The woker would place the tip of the pole between the horns and push an pop! the animal would drop.

In a hicken processing plant they hang the chickens by their feet, spray them with water and run them between two high voltage electrodes.

Pigs are different: They are smart and if they see what is going on they'll scream and fight like crazy. So the trick is to not let them know.

There is only one reason for people to reduce their appetite for animal protein, and that's that it takes a lot more energy to produce it than comparable vegetable protein. However, the world is a big and fruitful place and there is enough room on the planet to feed everyone, whatever they want to eat. Including meat.

We were designed to eat meat of animals. Otherwise we wouldn't. The free range cow or chicken has a hard life compared to the one raised in comparable warmth and comfort in confinement. They would take being raised indoors if given the choice. The science of efficient production of meat has made it much better for the animals in the last 30 years. They get eaten in the end as always. But the life part is better and because of it they are cheaper to produce.

I've known a couple of true vegetarian persons who got along well. But most people just crave the taste of meat, and thrive on the specific proteins that are found in meat.
