Amazing MB Emission's Story
 

Every year at this time, I wake up and decide this will be "Emissions Day," you know the one where you generally don't pray for anything but to have your car (s) pass the dreaded "Emissions Test from Hell." Before I even have my coffee, I have failed the emissions test not on one vehicle but both, today I decide it's "Maxines" turn, the 1990 420 SEL dream car I now own purchased two weeks ago. Peter at the Silver Star hoists her up gives her an oil change comes back shaking his head and informs me she has been neglected mechanically and that some %^&** head welded her exhaust system with some sort of facakta muffler and he doubts she will pass BUT we are gonna try anyway, I thought she sounded kinda neat, had that mini glass pack kinda sound and hum to her...to add further anxiety to the situation he comes back and tells me the emissions machine next door is broke down will be just alittle while, I go to lunch. Come back and low and behold Maxine PASSED her emmissions test, now I just have to come up with $4000.00 for the steering, front end, tires, brakes and thats just for starters. Add your story here about what you had to do to pass emmissions.

I drive up.
They enter the VIN.
NO EMMISION TEST in big letters on the screen.

Puzzled looks from the other saps in line with me.

New passed inspection sticker get put on.

Old Smokey drives away.

Priceless.

I hate them in CT. What a joke, even my SD that doesn't run half as good as the SDL passes by a huge margin.:rolleyes: If they are going to make me waste my $20 and 45 minutes to take the stupid test at least make it meaningful.

They test for particulate matter in the diesel's exhuast, the limit is 20. The SD got 7. The SDL got like 4-5 with a cold engine.:rolleyes:
