If you want to go with a really good printer consider the EPSON R1800 or R2400. The prints from those printers are absolute stunning and they last 200 years!

Dear 83-240 I am a medical photographer at a hospital and print any where from 20- 75 prints a day all digital. I use two printers one is high-end Epson ($900.00) that will print poster size as well as business cards it's older can't remember the model number, it's a 8 ink cartridge- makes phenominal prints. The quick and dirty is an Epson R230 (now replaced by the R300) great little printer that squirts out prints in minutes with good quality. $100.00 also at a certain time intervol you'll get a message that tells you the print heads have to be replaced and depending if you get the high-end that can cost around 200.00 depending where you live. I have used HP's (hewlette packard) and must say they are a good work horse but the color and clarity just isn't there. Good Luck!

Get one with the muti-ink-tank systems. I find it is cheaper to replace the individual color instead of all three, as only one is low at a time. But when you replace them all at the same time, it is the same price as one cartridge with all of the colors in it.

OTher than that, I have had really good luck with epson stylus printers. They have given me the best peroformance for price, and they are durable. How big of prints are you going to make at home??
