I kinda like it, looks very utilitarian/updated Mad Max-ish.

Interior is horrible though...

I would probably get a nose bleed from driving it after so much wheel time in the SDL

Wild shift lever set up, guess they can't use a console-mounted shifter, no room for radios, etc.

I've got a soft spot for old cop cars. Had a Dodge Diplomat in college that I spent $0 dollars in maint on in 3 years. Only thing that ever went on it was the thermostat and I took it out on the side of the road and drove home. Never replaced it and the car ran better without it. What a tank.

Was that the infamous "slant 6"? Those days of reliability are gone for sure.
It's one thing to drive around old cop cars that don't look like cop cars anymore, but driving a new one, unless you're actually a cop of some kind, just spells LOSER. I would however get a set of wheels for it that make it look more sexy, but at that point, I think there's a Chrysler 300 SRT or something like that with a lot of benz parts on it... only a few thousand more.

I think the Diplomats had the 318 V8, every bit as rugged as the slant 6 and hydraulic lifters to boot...

But does it have rear seats made for holding handcuffed prisoners? I'd demand it!

I LIKE IT!!!

It Don need no steenkin wheels. I like the monochromatic spokes. Just my taste or lack of.

Hmm..I wonder how it would look in other colors? I'll tell you the truth, I like it better than the Civilian Charger!!! The interior needs an upgrade, but it should be durable; A Detroit Version of MB-Tex? Aw man, another Mania!

The Michigan State Police does evaluations of Police Cruisers. I'll see if I can find the site.

As to used police cars

If you get pulled over by a LEO driving one of these, you will get pegged as a wannabe, and pull some attitude, they will write you up and you will get the "full boat".

www.officer.com

Still a lot of used P71 and P72 Police package used Crown Victoria Ford Police Interceptors, are sold every day on ebay and not just to Security Companies, Taxi owners and small town PDs, so there are wannabes, out there, as well as just folks who like the idea of a heavy duty one.

The few new Crown Vics that moderate/minor damage in transit from the factory, and are sometimes refused by the Police Departments, they are repainted by FoMoCo and then Ford dealers can resell them; and they sell pretty quickly.

As a great deal, sometimes one comes available with the "Street Appearance" option, a civilian color, with all chrome, wheels and exterior trim similar to a civilian car. These are usually supervisor's, detective Lt. s, or chief's cars, usually take home units and never saw patrol use, so for used, they are the best choice, but still with full Police equipment.

Yup, 318 with a 2 barrel. Cop suspension, bigger brakes, cooling system, tranny cooler and a hose it out vinyl interior they took off the spotlight though. $1100 from the Palm Beach Sherriffs auction. Great car for a 20yo punk kid.

I wouldn't mind a P71 Crown Vic. Replace the interior, tint the windows black and you got yourself a nice ride. A guy I know went to a ford event in which they got some track time in one. Said it actually handled well in a "wow, look at that hippo dance" sort of way.
