Western culture needs more logic, less emotion
With ALL of the issues surrounding nearly every concieveable issue it would seem that humanity needs LESS emotion and MORE logic. Honesty, does blowing up a bus of school children make one's religious cause more viable?!? Hell, even christian folks take great offense at the thought that Wiccan light defensive spells and Christian spells are remarkably similar.... With multiple gods there were less issues, with ONE god there has been nothing but chaos since. Find what works best for yourself and move on. Why is that so hard for 99% of the folks around the world? If you truly belive what you believe then you are okay yourself but let othes be. It is not your place to change everyone else. To quote JK Rowling....f'cking muggles!!!

I don't think . . .
. . . that Botor was saying, "NO emotion, ALL logic," just a better balance.
The kind of balance that worked beautifully for several thousand years. Such a balance enabled the West (meaning men, with the invaluable help of women) to build this comfortable civilization that now allows us the luxury of criticizing it, and the leisure time to do said criticizing.

I elsewhere alluded to individual and mass coping mechanisms that perhaps help one accept or rather forget the blatant truth of humanity.
I have vintage sportscars, old firearms,books,'78's and other choice goodies to assist in the escape from existence. Sex,drugs and alcohol also have their place. And when senescence creakily rears it's inevitable bald, palsied, liver-spotted pate is when the drugs and alcohol will really serve their purpose.

So it follows that the truth of humanity makes it is logical to seek emotional satiation when rational impasses born of emotional indecision create no easy alternative. Yes, that is logical.

Mr. Google suggests that humanity on the individual level commonly includes elements of biological, social and spiritual needs. Perhaps major impediments occur as we step beyond the biological and enter the arena of social and spiritual elements? Quote:

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Of the three, only one is subjected to a modifier and that is happiness.
Here's Albert Schweitzer on happiness: Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful. Happiness is nothing more than good health and a bad memory. |

I believe it was George Burns who said, "Happiness is a good meal, a good cigar and a good woman. Or, a bad woman, depending upon how much happiness you can stand."
