Great martial arts movies?

Fella's,
I saw the movie 'The Matrix' again this weekend, and what terrific martial arts scenes!! Definately my favourite martial arts movie.

What's yours??

Mercedes W140 KICKS A$$ out of BMW sedans.

It's a big fight scene with cars.

Ong Bak the Thai Warrior or whatever that film is (look it up) is supposed to be awesome. Havent had the chance to see it yet.

Ong Bak has some amazing fight scenes in it. It is pretty unique in that you really don't see too much of this style. Great to watch.

Thats not a martial arts movie, its a special effects movie. They could make me do that stuff and make it look real.

No substitute for Enter the Dragon.

Check out "Fighting Black Kings", its really a documentary as opposed to a film but it previews a variety of styles and shows a real full contact championship (early 70's I think). Crouching Tiger was good, and I loved Hero. House of Flying Daggers was not nearly as good as I expected.

On a side note, I have to say that one of the most under rated martial arts oriented actors is Wesley Snipes. I've been involved in Shidokan Karate and Judo in the past, and whenever I see him in action, usually a Blade movie, I think now thats about as real as moves get in a movie while still being a movie, if that makes any sense.

ong bak is good.
fearless, the new jet li movie is pretty good in terms of martial arts.

If you've never seen Yojimbo, by Kurowsawa, check it out. Clint Eastwood's spaghetti westerns were all inspired by this.

Also, Hidden Fortress by Kurosawa. The first three Star Wars borrowed big elements of plot from this. A very cool movie.

C'mon people... Enter the Dragon. No denying its influence on the genre.

Ara T. 06-02-2006 06:24 AM

I think i enjoy The Way of the Dragon more than Enter the Dragon... the fight with Chuck Norris is cool.
