Paintball guns...

I wanna get into paintballing, anyone have any advise to offer regarding the purchase of the guns?

I've seen some pretty elaborate/expensive ones on the web.

tipman 98 custom is a really nice gun. i think it goes for around 100. be carefull, it gets expensive fast.

stay away from scenario games.. that can get prettttyyyy spendy and intense

Tipman 98 Custom. Dump the stock POS barrel for something good, 12in maybe don't go nuts. I could drop a ball anywhere I wanted within 2 shots.

They are the AK-47 of paintball guns, a bit of a pita to strip in the field but you never need to. I had only a handfull of jams, never let me down. Not to mention these days you can upgrade the heck out of them. Stick on a trick trigger, auto feed hopper, and dump the Co2 tank and you can really throw some paint.

If you really go nuts get an Angle, or Autococker. Just remember if you show up with an Angle you had better be able to play.

They're replicas of real guns, spring, gas or electric powered and they shoot lil 6mm plastic BB's. Some real cool guns, its just you better play with people you know and love since you rely on the honor system when calling hits.

a flatline barrel is real nice in the tipman. add an rt trigger and you can really go to war.i hate autocockers, they jam up too much. automags on the other hand are very good.

i dont think the electric spyder is too much more is it?

I have an Angel G7.

My first gun was a 98 fully modded. Had a flatline barrel and sniper scope. Could take targets from far out.

Airsoft are cool. They are pretty much just like real guns that fire plastic BB's. My friend has a G36 he got from Japan, it is a spot on replica of a real one.

A good airsoft gun is almost a dead nuts replica of the real thing.

I need to get back into paintball. I never had the flatline barrel on my 98, 12in something or other forget the brand.

Buy a used automag with a powerfeed. Be sure it is not modified and don't modify it. You can probably find a package deal with extra barrels, etc for little extra money.

Don't skimp on the mask. Rent a few times to see what you like. Ask other players to check out their guns, etc.

Start getting in shape now. Paintball is the only sport I know of that can give you an aerobic workout without moving.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.

I'm not that into it myself, but a few of the crew are. When we have parties at the ranch, they often get a "war" going out in the woods. I've been in a few. Much more intense than I’d ever expected.

And that "paint' doesnt (completely) wash out either.

Haven't played on a "real field" in some time, but I played almost every weekend for years. Finally got fed up with the way the game was going. Too many rich kids showing up and blasting 2000 rounds a game. Too many pros showing up and wiping out the rec players just to stroke their egos. Too many cheaters, be they wipers or hot guns. Basically, the game lost its fun for me.

Now, I play a couple times a year, but only outlaw games with friends. Pumps only, no semis. It's a far more enjoyable experience; strategy and shot placement are the name of the game, not how much paint you can spew out of your Autococker/Automag from 50 yards away. It's far cheaper, and much more fun.

I realize I'm in the minority here...just try and find a local field that still offers pump only or stock games - they are far and few between. Personally, I think it has more to do with economics than demand - a field owner can sell a lot more paint and air in semi games.

Stock class games is where the fun's at.

Ever play a PGP-only game? Now that's challenging...10 shots before reload, 12oz cylinder, very minimal range...it forces you to have a very close and personal battle.
