Awesome. Looks kinda strange but hey whatever floats your boat. With all that power under the hood theres no way that thing couldnt be fun. Doesnt really make much sense to have all that weight in the front for that type of car but for most people's purposes they'd never notice.

The rear end looks very kit car like. Driving something classic looking doesn't need to go fast. It just looks more embarrasing when you're outrun by a STi

"HIGH POWER AMERICAN MUSCLE UNDER THR HOOD"

Looks like a Ford 5.0L, but the nameplate is missing from the intake.

That should reduce its value considerably. But perhaps the bidders don't know, or most are shills.

It would be worth a lot more with the original drivetrain.

i am pretty sure that is a kit car.

the dash, wheels and engine give it away also the bumpers and taillights.

it is a close copy of the body as far as i can tell from the pics but the details let it down.

the painted hubcaps really scream "not a real 300sl" also they were first built in 1957 iirc so i dont know what gives with the 52 year.

i saw a 300sl gullwing up at auburn fall auction last year that looked spot on from the outside. hyman motors had it. had a late model six with five speed iirc, about 200k asking price.

$50k for a very non-original car and almost no description as to what the car really is. Stupid.

It IS a goddam kit car,any careful scrutiny of the seams,"chrome"to metal fit and general lack of proper proportion reveal it,note the horrid fit and obscene angle of the grille star surround.

Note also the seller has zero feedback and the ad is full of horrid grammar and speling(sic),probably a custom made tubular chassis with a glass body.

Unfortunately it's all too easy for someone to set up a bogus, one trick pony account just to bait the eager ignorant and then disappear.

I thought, "$50K, not bad so far"...until I looked at the pics.

The bullet taillights were the first giveaway, as well as the contrasting hubcaps.

Sure looks like a 5.0L out of a Mustang. A friend of mine dropped the same motor into his Cobra kit car, but at least it was of the same heritage!

$25K tops for the SL...1952?

Yes, that's a Ford 302. For $50K I'd sure hope for more than what's under the hood, too! Looks like stock valve covers, so stock heads, and the intake looks like a Cobra intake... I'd have at least thrown a Edelbrock or something on there!

And yes, I agree -- UGLY! Almost as bad as those Mercedes Gazelle kit cars with the VW engine in the rear, or the ones with the Pinto running gear. Yuck!

I saw that one too and wondered about it. Seller has zero feedback. Either he is reincarnated after he got the boot for shilling his auctions or he is an eBay newbie and the pictures don't do this car justice.

Either way it says watch from a distance.

I suspect that car is intended for an audience that I am not familiar with. I don't know anyone who would want it. I also suspect the seller knows how to make money from cars.

I can't imagine the response if I called to add that car to my insurance policy.
