Cool The king of the 600 series!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1972-Mercedes-Benz-Grand-600-Limo-With-Center-Divider_W0QQitemZ200000834005QQihZ010QQcategoryZ6333QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

For when the top of the line S just falls short. Got to love these custom MB's.

Yep I moved it for the OD guys who don't usualy venture into that forum. I'd love to own one someday. I have seen a few in person and they just glow, even covered in dust sitting they look and feel like something special.

I know of a wharehouse where probably about 6 of these cars reside. Some LWB some short, all in need of work but with straight bodies. The Ferrari 308 and Rolls Royce sitting in there midst were upstaged a bit.

Heh

Personally Hatty I'd rather sport this around than a brand new S600. The 600 "grossers" are awesome, even though this is a "short wheel base" version. Hydraulically operated windows and seats. THATS overkill. It oozes luxury and panache, and screams old money. Its so imposing and old school, I love it! Pulling up to a swank club in NYC with one of these would be much more cool, IMO, than a Maybach. Sure the Maybach has all the new fangled features, but I mean that thing is just awesome!

Good find.

It has Japanese importer plates on it? Probably a VIP shuttle of some sort that was rarely ever used.

Just the thing to write notes on before arriving at the Nikkei

All that has been replaced by a V-12 Toyota Crown with kleenex boxes built into the body.

Ha ha!! Don't forget the white lace antimicassas draped over all the headrests and stuffed animals on the rear parcel shelf!!

The 600 simply radiates an aura of class, refinement and reliability that Rolls, with it's stupid Citroen derived hydro-pneumatic system and troublesome triple circuit brakes cannot hope to equal.

Just look at the way the "greenhouse"sits on the beltline, what aristocratic stance.

And you KNOW once you enter one you will get to your destination safely at high speed with no problems.

The seller's about a half-hour away from me. When I go to work in Brooklyn on Thursday I think I'll call the guy and see it up close, just for the hell of it,of course!

Just curious,
How come the rear seats are not leather like the front ones? Was the other material a more expensive option compared to the leather?

Lots of people don't like leather. Velour costs a lot too.

Angora Mohair.

The Chauffer has to sit on the leather.

You need a short legged driver, seat won't scoot back due to the divider (or recline). Too bad, otherwise it seemed pretty adequate....
