Ever wonder why Our Goverment can't get anything done

Congress spent 2 days of heated debate about destroying the flag.

I really don't care what your opinion is, mine is don't burn it just leave.

BUT don't we have about a trillion more important things to worry about.

OK, back on the topic...

In case you all don't know, our system of Gov't is not supposed to fast or efficient. It's slow and cumbersom for a reason. The reason is that the longer it takes to get laws passed, the longer we have our liberties.

Whatever you think about the flag burning amendment, first it has to pass the Senate, then be ratified by 3/4's of the states and then there is a waiting period until it becomes the Law of the Land.

In case you forgot, the ERA, Equal Rights Amendment, never passed the 3/4's muster after an extention. I personally think it should have been passed. The Supreme Court has passed it by Judicial Fiat, and i'm not taling about the car.

Lots of amendments get proposed but few pass. It's better that way. Be afraid of Seantors who say that they'll pass a law and let the courts decide.

I prefer Congressional Gridlock. It means they're leaving us alone.

This week it was flag burning . . . last week it was debate on non-binding resolutions about troop withdrawl . . . there was a committee hearing on violent video games . . . . oh, they did manage to kill the increase in the federal minimum wage . . . so you can't say it's been an unproductive couple of weeks.

Those 2 things are to show that they are doing something. The more important things can be avoided since they are busy.

Well I know that around here, we've had an epidemic of flag burning, the air stinks sometime, it's getting so out of control.

That, and the hordes of married gays trying to break into my home to convert me to queer-ness while destroying the institution of marriage.

Thank God Congress caught wind of my distress.

Let them burn the flag, who cares. They will not be burning MY U.S. flag, which proudly waves next to the front AND back doors of my house. The debate is a silly waste of time and money.

Debate moving in painful slowness from one inconsequential piece of legislative fluff to another for interminable weeks is a GOOD thing. I'd favor doubling their pay if they'd stay out of session twice as long. And encourage Bush to go to Crawford, TX for months instead of weeks at a time. And the SC take fewer cases. Those guys need to be spending more time on geriatric augmentation.

It does seem like a waste of time.

And banning the burning of the flag simply turns it into a meaningful protest. As of right now it is not one.

No, please NO! Whenever the Shrub is in Crawford, there seems to be a constant stream of military choppers wopping their way back and forth over BHF...Gawd I wish he'd chosen Connecticut instead of Texas as 'home.'

[QUOTE=MTI] . . . there was a committee hearing on violent video games . . . .QUOTE]

I watched some of that on c-span and was disturbed by the number of those guys who actually play video games. Funny, they were all overweight and several wore glasses. Almost all of them said their kids played video games. Mine won't.
