[QUOTE=Dee8go]Cat, I don't consider failure to wear seatbelts a crime. It may be the law and not wearing them is, therefore, breaking the law.

Dee8go- As long as you and I are driving together in a vehicle, YOU WILL WEAR THAT SEATBELT, is that clear mister? Now let the seatbelt thing go will you?

No way, Jose!

Wonder what happened to the guy. I could see that being fatal.

I used to never wear them. I drove cab for years w/o wearing them. Then when it became law up in Washington state, I started wearing them and now feel naked w/o one on (in the car ;) ). I had a passenger in the cab once, a nurse who had spent years in a para/quadra ward, and she told me you'd be amazed how many people were in there from a 25 or 35 mph accident. It dawned on me that the fastest human ever supposedly ran about 25 mph. Imagine running at your top speed into a brick wall. Ouch.

I like it when the criminal gets killed in the end! 280 million people in this country. Not much of a chance anyone will miss him.

I have photographed guys who survived motorcyle accidents and not worn helmets and had to have their heads put back together....

Two weeks ago I was working on the Bonneville Salt Flat, Utah. When leaving we pushed our rented Durango up to 110mph, I wanted my buddy to go up to 120mph but he chicken faced and went down to 90mph; when he calmly informed us that he lost complete control over the car. The Durango slowly made a 180...one bump on the flat and we would have tumbled like that idiot in the video.

I recoil at the thought of the damage to the suspension components suffered by the black car under which the hapless recidivist passed.

Wonder if he just escaped with an alignment check?

I saw something extremely similar like that about a month ago on the 110 freeway southbound on the way to work. I am chugging along in the 300D and I see the Izuzu Rodeo mash on its brakes in front of me and I punch the brakes as I tense up and see a Dodge Stratus in front of the Rodeo do a 5 lane 180 spin/slide across all lanes JUST missing the barrier wall ending up facing northbound in the carpool lane. What a moron! :(

it wasn't pretty. He had to gut the entire suspension.

He probably didn't feel like smelling anything bbq'd for a while.

I have approximatel zero sympathy for the nitwit, just curious how a body would repond to that. Looks like he fell on his head to begin with, in such a way that might damage his neck as well. I've seen what high speed auto tires will do to a rabbit's guts -- we're bigger than them but our guts aren't that much harder.

Just curious, not that I'm planning any high speed getaways or the side-swiping of any cars, but what do you guys think: If he'd cut his wheels hard to the right immediately, any chance he could have brought it under control? I'm thinking slim chances, but maybe.

Quit showing the video--I want as many criminals as possible to not wear their seatbelts!!

cmac2012 06-29-2006 04:54 PM

How's that go again... 'the banality of evil?" :D

Banal: lacking originality, freshness, or novelty : TRITE;
synonym, see INSIPID.
