What is the greatest thing you learned from your children?

Just curious- what is the greatest lesson your children have taught you?

Good for you. People who don't want kids, or don't like kids should not be forced into it by peer pressure.

From my kids I have learned patience and tolerance.

Or family expectations. I have a button that says :"The Family Tree Stops Here."

Patience, understanding, patience, patience & patience,Et,Al,Ad Nauseum......I don't much cotton to the word Tolerance because that does not denote full acceptance, although there are times I'll tolerate my daughter's headstrong nonsense doesn't imply I either enjoy it or encourage it.

This too shall pass...and my grandfather's favorite,"consider how unimportant this contretemps shall appear a week hence, hell, you'd like as went and forgot it by then".

My kids have taught me how to budget...seriously, I used to be all loosy-goosey with money, but with 7 kids between 8 and 17, I have to be careful where the money goes, so I have some left over for my toys, like old cars. I love the kids, but they are the world's biggest money pits. Anyone contemplating starting a family really should consider the budgetary ramifications of adding to your head-count.

Thank You, I neglected to add the fiduciary aspect.

I'm a real cheapskate of the old school, doesn't mean I'm blind to the necessities one needs, just economical.

Took a great deal of emotional effort to show my wife the wonder and savings of garage sales, thrift shops, coupons and outright negotiation, that's how I grew up and thank God,my daughter has nearly as good a line of bullsh-t as I do when she sees something she wants but on general principle{the greatest gift perhaps I have bestowed upon her} will begin lowballing the vendor and, well, not to offend anyone,Hmmmm....Chew them down unmercifully

Don't poop in the bathtub -- a valuable lesson indeed.

Then toss out the silly junk that are my opinions and formulate their own.
Thats well said. I'm constantly in the zone between being so proud for their accomplishments and going ballistic at their huge lapses. But that sums it up.

You would be simply amazed{well, maybe not}at the number of irresponsible social and genetic misfits who should never reproduce.
