Caliper slides not covered under Hyundai warranty?

A friend has a Sonata with 15K miles and on one side, on the rear, one of the pads is worn to the metal. The other pad looks almost like new. Hyundai says it is not under warranty, ever heard of anything like this?

I called two dealers, one didn't know what caliper slides were, the other said that they would not warranty the slides. They said the piston had to be stuck for Hyundai to warranty the caliper.

The first scheduled brake service is at 15K and the car has 15,100 miles.

Save the "don't buy a Hyundai" comments. I would be interested in other manufacturer's policies though.

BTW, I am back in Maine so road salt is an issue.
