Uh-oh, almost bought an E55.

Well, I have been looking around for cars as usual, when a strange ad caust my eye. It was a 2003 E55 that was for sale for 30k. Well we went to go look at it, and it looked sharp.

When we asked why the owner was selling it so cheap, it was because it was salvaged, and rebuilt. We drove it, and it tracked reasonably straight and was faster than *****. It apparently has had all of the airbags replaced, as well as the "safety computer" and damaged body parts.

Well we left, and offered him 20k. He didn't bite, and sold it last week for 30k his asking price. We were able to look back and say we were glad we walked away.

Not worth buying a salvage car, your only asking for trouble.

Yeah but consider the cars value. Whats one of these worth with a clean title? $50k maybe? Figure it had to have about $30k+ worth of damage for them salvage it. Thats not just a parking lot fender bender!

He had pictures of it wrecked. The front airbags and the side air bags had deployed. He apparently replaced them, but still I wouldn't trust a car that was wrecked and fixed.

The car hit a tree at about 30 miles per hour. There was a chunk missing out of the car. We thought about it, and lowballed him... Not worth it. Pay the premium for a nice one, and be done with it.

You are absolutely right about that Justin. Pay the premium, get a good one.
I can see how you were tempted though.

You did find an amazingly forthcoming seller though. Often times the sellers conceal things about salvaged cars, or even that they are salvaged. There are ways to "wash" the title on them so it comes out a clean title.

These cars will deep on depreciating and one day the real good ones will be within your reach!

I bet the insurance bill to repair that puppy was awful big!
