http://tunertrader.vidiac.com/category/Lexus/0/336882E7-C7B9-4C46-A89F-6005BA88B56E.htm

I think morons like that should be weeded out from our gene pool!!

Kevin jumps on hood = thinks he is a stud
Kevin threw off car = painful
Kevin showed what a retard he is on the internet = priceless

Don't worry, Elau. I'd ay there's a good chance they'll take themselves out. Kevin should probably not be allowed to visit the Grand Canyon, eh? Or any active volcanos, gun shops, etc.

Kevin is a dumbass. He should consider himself lucky he didn't try that with me.....

T--I hate to speak for Elau, but I doubt he meant to belittle legitimate mental infirmary. People have been misusing that term (along with queer, queen, fairy and others) for years. Mistake to use it? Guess it depends on the listner. I am addressing this, because I got called out on a similar mistake last week and tried to explain that I honestly didn't know the term I used was offensive. My apology was not accepted, yet I can tell you sincerely that I meant no offense to the listner. It was very frustrating, because my views on the subject I was accused of slandering were polar opposite to what this guy surmised.

yep.

and being from a country area i used to say j#w them down to describe negotiating prices. we didnt have any jews around to offend and it was just a term to us.

then one day i was someplace else and used the term to a stranger who happened to be jewish. he took note of it and i said "its just a term, no offense." he appeared to accept my explanation.

somehow i just have never used that term since.

so you decide.

I agree with you--I just was frustrated last week when my sincerety was questioned because I used a (possibly) insensitive colloquialism so I thought I would weigh in.

I would never allow my daughters ( 2 3/4 and 6 mos) to grow up using the term 'retard', period. I used it when I was a child, but don't anymore. When I hear it used by an adult, I am reminded of Beavis and Butthead , but don't take particular offense, because I sometimes I lapse into my surf-rat lingo. Then again, I do not have the experience to which you allude.

Tom,
I see your point and I feel for your brother.

However, I think this world is too full of political correctness. I am not about to apologize for my choose of words as my intention is to show the virtual world how stupid this guy is. And I think that word describe him to the teeth.

In addition, I am not about to walk around for the rest of my life worrying what is offensive or not.

Thanks, John.

My term is not directed to any person with that condition. But I still stand my ground about the political correctness bit

Thank you, Tom! I've worked with developmentally disabled people for several years and it really is an offensive term. 'Retardation' is actually a clinical term, but the PC way to say it is that someone 'has retardation.' Even then it's best to avoid it, IMO.

The truth is that someone can be 'retarded' and still be a more valuable member of society than someone with 100 more IQ points. I've seen it.

John Doe, I certainly hear what you're saying. I have to agree with you that it's kind of silly to hear someone use a word such as 'retarded' and then form a concrete opinion of them on that basis alone. It's not fair or useful.

Not too long ago a good friend of mine used the term 'jew' to describe something. Then she got all embarassed because she realized my fiancee is Jewish. I didn't hold it against her. She's never really known any Jewish people. If I did hold it against her we would both lose, really.

I am not here to stir things up. This world is full of problems without my help. If everybody just accept the fact that this is just "words" we use on a daily basis, this world will be a better place if we take out political correctness.

Yep, look no further than the ME. We all lose because of choice of acceptance. Lesson learned?

Right on, fellas. No hating going on here.

Kevin is a Dumb Arse (no offense to our hooven beasts of burden)

Honestly, if that guy would have done that to me, I would have supposed it to be a threat or distraction associated with a carjacking. I wouldn't have shot him through the front window if my girls were in the car (lil' eardrums), but he would likely have no legs if they had been, or dead if they weren't. There is something extremely violative about his conduct that makes me fume just thinking about it, although I only watched it once.

Actually, using the term "retard" is insulting because it implies that a retarded person would perform such a stupid stunt!

I have a couple of relatives who are, and they have the God-given sense to NOT do something that ridiculous!

Maybe the "M" word fits here?

just for the record, my brother is "normal"... sort of. (you know, as normal as i am i guess).

my wife for many years taught mentally handicapped kids.

i am not meaning to condemn any body to hell over this, just meant as a gentle reminder that some might have their feelings hurt.

i prefer to avoid that if it is not my intention to hurt them.
