work shoes or boots
 

it is that time again, my work shoes are in need of replacing. any suggestions on what brand i should get? i fix mercedes all day long on concrete and need them to be oil and slip resistant, but most of all comfortable. steel toe not needed. thanks

I have a pair of Caterpillar brand steel toes, and have never felt the steel toe part...

They are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn.

Redwing steeltoe boots.



I've been on the same pair for well over a year.

I wear redwings. I'm supprised that steel toes are not required. Youd never work in my shop like that.

The company I work for requires steel toe boots in many of its positions. The old-timers wear Red Wings. Most of the newer guys wear Red Wings. I don't have Red Wings yet....but once my current boots wear out, I will probably spend the $275 and get myself a pair. (they all say they are worth it)

Our people settled on "Shoes for Crews". Inexpensive, very comfortable, slip resistant. Even if a new pair was bought annually, you'd save a ton of money. Most are in the $50 range.

I have a pair of Red Wing boots that are the most comfortable footware I've ever had.

You can put them on right out of the box (if properly fitted) and feel fine.

I have had a pair of regular black red wing shoes, and a pair of Red Wing boots for over a decade.

I've had both resoled more than once.

They are extraordinarily comfortable shoes.

Also, they not only provide free shoe laces, but will oil the shoes free of charge for life.

Redwings has some great styles.

Or you could get some White's. they have some boots that you can keep rebuilding for decades!

honestly all the years i have worked in an auto shop environment i have never needed the steel to boot. i guess i have never been in the position to have something heavy drop on my toes. the one time i did drop a high torque starter it landed on the top of my foot, so the steel toe aspect wouldn't have helped any way, fortunately it wasn't a 617 diesel starter:eek:

I wear Tommy Bahama flip flops to work, but have owned a couple of pairs of redwing wellington boots, but bought a pair of Justins in the same style last year and like them better.

my plain redwing's were just $120...



add $50 for the custom molded insoles (damn comfey) The leather on mine is just starting to tear (on top of the toe) is their anyway to fix this, besides replacement?




and, most shops; steel toes are optional, but boots are usually required (some are scared if you get you foot ranover with a Hi-lo)
