Got the Rabbit...

This afternoon I picked up a new Rabbit for one of my kids.

Black, 4 door hatchback, premium wheels, ESP, 6-speed auto-tranny, chromed exhaust tips and a bunch of other goodies. All for around 20 G notes.

The car is a surprise, she will be out of town until next week.

The car is really nicely put together, nice build quality, real solid ride, good acceleration.

We had looked at the Matrix, the Vibe, the Caliber, etc., and they all felt cheap and tinny. The Rabbit feels real nice.

An interesting note, the tranny is made in Japan. Go figure!

Where is the rest of the car made?

diametricalbenz 07-20-2006 01:56 AM

Which engines do they offer in it?

I was at the VW dealer the other day too, seeing if the new R32 was out? Apparently Im an idiot or they are, no one heard of it. Congrats, you should drop that mug on daytons yo, slam it to the earth and hook it up with a phat wing and some chrome tips dawg.

See if that works for you, watch it about 10 seconds see what I'm talking about.

Dang, Ernesto, that sounds like a good car! I hope you'll relate in detail her reaction when she sees the sopresa:)

She'll really enjoy the size of the car for nipping round from here to there!
Being a new model the chances are it should be trouble free - no dead batteries at midnight or breakdowns! That's what's wonderful about new ones, though I always personally was inclined to go used (and get a higher line of car)

I wish I would have known because my brother is a technician at a VW dealer. We get discounts and employee prices :)

Only one engine is currently available, a 2.5L, 5 cylinder engine. Partial Zero Emissions engine (this is an important point to my daughter :D ).

We got a pretty good deal...under sticker price. Many dealers in the area were asking for sticker or for a premium above sticker. :silly:

Seems like every time gas prices go up here in So. California people make a run for small cars...and drive the prices up.

But don;t worry my friend, I may call on you soon. My wife saw this cute VW convertible bug and now she is making noises that her Yukon is too big and how we don't need such a big hauler anymore, etc., etc, etc. :(

Well, she always liked the Rabbit (the old one). So I am hoping she will like it...if she does not we can always use a spare car (to carry in the back of the Yukon  ).

I like the size of it myself. It is like driving a go kart. :D

I too prefer a higher, top of the line car even if I have to get a used one. But a new car warranty that covers things such as windshield wipers is nice to have. For the other kids we got CPO cars, but this is the kind of car that we know she likes. And given gas prices the way they are an EPA estimate of 22 street/30 highway (on regular gas) is nice to have.

My wife picks her up at the airport next week...we'll see what her reaction is.

Of course, if my parents had surprise me with a car this nice when I washer age I would have been jumping for joy. I had to buy my own car...a beat up (but fast as greased lightning) 1963 Olds Super 88 Super-Duper Rocket....:D

You could be my daughter, but would you want to undergo the sex change thingy just to drive a new Rabbit....

My son will get a 200k miles 300TE. Not fast or fancy, but built like a tank (check out the "awesome W124 video" thread).

Let's just say she is old enough to vote but not old enough to drink...legally anyway.

Kuan 07-20-2006 11:44 AM

I take it your daughter doesn't surf. :) Man... nice. I think I'll go look at one today.
