Interesting 6.9 film

This is a short, 8 minute French film from the seventies made by director Claude LeLouch that stars a Mercedes 6.9, the sound was dubt and is defiantly from another car.

Camera on the front of the 6.9,

C'était un rendez-vous

Some more info

Whoa, I thought that it was a Ferrari... Are you sure that it was a 6.9 that made that movie...

My friend also told me they used a 6.9 and dubbed in Ferrari sounds but I didn't believe him. Hm.

Yeah, this movie was posted a while back (MedMech I think?). Seems there is a certain amount of controversy over what car was used/overdubbing sound, etc.

Either way, a cool movie!

C&D or R&T did a story on this film. Seems 90% of the story is myth, and little is based in fact. Wish I had the issue in front of me -- I think it was published in the last 15 months or so.

Great video.... amazing that a 4 speed automatic can handle like that. But the sound they added to the video is just amazing.

I saw "69" and "French" and thought you were talking about something else. See ya. I'm going back over to the Mistress Heather's thread. . .

The sound doesn't go along with the video. Sounds like a Ferrari, also notice the picture doesn't seem to be moving much faster as the engine continues to sound like its pulling.

Cool video non the less.

It sure sounds like a Ferrari, but whatever it was, that wasn't a 6.9. You can hear the guy doing rev-matching downshifts every time. He's a very smooth manual shifter. I've never heard of a manual shift 6.9, and even if there had been, there's no way it would shift like a sports car.

It is definitely a cool video. One of the things that amazed me the most was how little traffic there was at the traffic circle that surrounds the Arc de Triomphe. Every time I've been to Paris the traffic there is like the 7th layer of hell.

I always thought it was a Ferrari too. A fly yellow Dino 246. Looks like fun to blast through a metropolitan area at high speeds.

I'm 46 and still like to drive fast. I think it is from my days living in Europe where almost everyone drives fast.

It's not a 4 speed....it's a 3 speed.

There are a few copycatters out there one was "Getaway in Stockholm" using a early production NSX racing through the streets and a few others throughout Europe.

Nissan did something very similar with the 350Z when it was launched a few years ago as part of a movie preview.

No Ferrari's right now but I do have some pretty good video that I have been piecing together, the funny part is we are dodging potholes in the video........at about 155 mph March is great driving weather but hard on the cars.

I do have this video uploaded though.
