dont be ashamed of the nightmares. that was a really scary thing. i would have had to change my underwear for sure!

in my office building we found the main plumbing vent had been hit by lightning. it took off the top (since that is now plastic) and apparently traveled down the pipe about 20' and blew out the back side of it, causing a mysterious sewer gas event whenever the weather changed.

we chased that one for about three years before we found the problem and fixed it.

we still have a mysterious sewer gas source in the hallway outside my office that will be no problem for months on end and every so often we smell noxious sewer gas fumes for anywhere from two minutes to two days.

havent been able to find the source yet.
