scca autocross saturday

i will be taking my 500sec to an autocross at grissom afb (former) on saturday. i am hoping my wheel spacers from h and r come in tomorrow so i can put them under my wheels when i mount my slicks.

i will be taking my 18 year old daughter along.

this is a real risk since after a while at the slick track in pigeon forge tn she was able to beat me consistantly. she is a tough minded competitor.

i wish my indie would get my engine back in my 280e. i want to try it out on the autocross.

at the scca autocross at crown point there was a 318i with slicks. it was the only car that approached the outrageous lean angles my 500 displayed. but it posted really good times, too.

i still can't believe i posted a faster time than a boxter... and a 94 vette.

still grinning.

Tom -- been to Grissom before? Be sure to stop by the Air Museum. My brother is the director there; it's a great place!

Have fun at the auto-x!

Get some better springs for that SEC, see if it helps with the body roll. That sounds like a blast man, I always wanted to try it... is it easy to spin that tank around with the throttle?

well, you cant spin it just on throttle like dale earhart but in a corner when pushing it will come right around. even on the slicks.

i knocked one cone over last time sideways!

the grip of the slicks is simply impossible to imagine. they pick up every pebble from the surface they are so sticky. when driving away from the course in a few revolutions they quickly look like a sesame seed bun!

i wont modify the sec. but when i get the 280e up and running i have some eibach springs to put on it. i cant wait to get it going. it weighs about 3000 vs the 3700 for the sec and is rated at the same hp. (less torque though) and i will use the same slicks. it should be fairly tough.

i'm back. had a great time. they didnt separate novices so i got waxed by serious autocrossers. the only other car in hs was an 04 mini running slicks. i got waxxed by 5 seconds on my 60 second best lap.

my daughter had a great time too. she was high as a kite the rest of the afternoon.

i definately need a lighter car. first the 280e, then i would love to get some variation on a lotus seven. those things are awesome!
