hijacked eBay listing?

CAUTION - THERE MAY BE SECURITY RISKS IN CLICKING THE FOLLOWING LINKS!

I found this eBay listing -

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110014092992

but when I click the link my browser is transferred to this site -

http://viewitemcgi5comsecureareamember1.9k.com/ToyotaCorolla2005TOYOTACOROLLAlowmilesGASSAVERW0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6445QQihZ001QQitemZ11001409 2992QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW.htmhttp://viewitemcgi5comsecureareamember1.9k.com/ToyotaCorolla2005TOYOTACOROLLAlowmilesGASSAVERW0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6445QQihZ001QQitemZ11001409 2992QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW.htm

How strange that eBay would allow a listing to redirect. Or is that an html or java function that eBay can't control?

A possibly safer way to find the listing is to search on "2005 Corolla" in cars & trucks and look for the one with 8200 miles. When I click on it the eBay page flashes then my browser is redirected.

Really? Didn't jump to item 110015093992?

What browser and secutrity software are you running, if you don't mind?

Thanks,
Sixto

Good catch, Sixto!

Try using "advanced search" with the item number from the bogus page. It's a valid item number, but it's not that car!

Then try the "find a member" using the eBay ID of the "seller" from the bogus page - no dice!

No, I jump to 110014092992 - a 2005 Corolla.

When I go to ebay and type in that number under search, I get the same car with the same listing ID.

I'm using McAfee Security that came with my Dell (purchased about a year ago).

Sixto I think you're right the page is hijacked, redirected, and emulated on the "9k" site. How did you happen to figure this one out?

I started with an eBay search but the destination page had all the links as mailto's and no live bid or buy button. Then I noticed the URL.

The same seller also has a Scion tC for sale; that auction has been similarly hijacked.

I have a theory that anything that sticks to the bottom of your shoes is related to eBay in some way.
