cars we associate with gay people?

I work with someone who is opening a Subaru dealership. He mentioned that Subaru does lots of advertising in gay media...what other brands or models do you associate with gay folks? Please, let's not turn this into a circus, I'm throwing a legitimate question out there.

I'm not worried about my car choice, as long as the A/C blows cold...
this issue came up because one of my sons has an issue with driving a VW cabriolet...he plays football and seems to think the guys will razz him.

Ford was recently the target of a "religious" group boycott protesting FoMoCo's marketing in alternative lifestyle publications.

If hes any decent sized football player, he won't even FIT in a Cabrio. He is probably thinking Jeep, or new Mustang.

I hadn't even thought about the whole size issue, he's 16, 6ft, 225 or so, not real quick but strong as an ox. His mother would murder me if I brought home a Jeep, because I'm sure he'd want a Wrangler and her first thought would be "roll-over". I wonder if a 3-series BMW is masculine enough for his taste?

Whatever you get him, he is probably gonna smash (been thru this 2 years ago). Put the whole thing off for as long as possible. Then, just make sure its something sturdy, cross your fingers, and hope for the best. DO NOT form any kind of emotional bond with the car!

The 17 year old daughter has had 4 collisions, including the Rio several times...it's laying at my office with the left front undercarriage ripped off due to her encounter with a curb...the fun never ends.

A five year old Accord or Camry would be easy enough on the pocket, safe, and have neutral teen status. Another possibility is a small pickup truck.

If he has ADD as you say, he will probably keep forgetting to put the top back up on the convertible when it rains.

I've never understood why Miatas were considered a girl's car. For a long time it was the only affordable, 2-seat sports car suitable for everyday driving. I drove one once. It was a blast. Reminded me of the MGs I drove back in the 70s, except with air conditioning.

View from ground zero

Well, I used to live in San Francisco, until about 2 years ago, in a neighborhood very near the Castro
(ground zero) and "THE" gay car was certainly a black-HAD to be black- Jeep Wrangler. Lesbians liked the Diahatsu Rocky. But there wasn't much of a pattern beyond that. One gay neighbor had a well preserved pale yellow 1958 Edsel Bermuda station wagon, it was actually a cool car.

I personally would imagine a Nash Metropolitan would be a gay kind of car

Another guy actually had a '62 Mercedes 220SEb convertible. A District Attorney-now a Judge- used to have a Nissan Pathfinder.

There was a gay car club called the Freewheelers and once I saw a couple of their cars, they were Imperial and Lincoln convertibles from the late 50s, Studebaker Hawks, and 59 T-Birds....nothing in particular stood out.

I heard Volvo ran an ad campaign aimed at gays, a few years back, but some of the ads were too suggestive and the campaign got pulled.
