Paris - Parisian sunbathers will no longer be allowed to go nude or wear g-strings on the capital's artificial beaches and risk a fine if they are caught baring their breasts or buttocks.

City hall has issued a decree banning indecent clothing to preserve the tranquillity of the sandy beaches created on the banks of the River Seine every summer since 2001.

"People must behave according to good standards to maintain tranquillity, security and public order," the decree said, according to Saturday's edition of Le Parisien. "Notably indecent attire (nude sunbathing, g-strings and toplessness etc) is forbidden."

The city police will be enforcing the rules, and anyone caught baring too much flesh risks a 38 euro (26 pounds) fine.

Defending the decree, city hall sports official Pascal Cherki told Le Parisien that indecent clothing "could have led to temptations and dangerous behaviour on the banks of the river."

Topless sunbathing and g-strings are common on real beaches around France in the summer.

Nudity can be ugly on some people!
 

The hidden subtext - and probably the REAL reason for the ban, is that the nudity you will see for the most part would make you throw up, sagging breasts, fat, pasty butts, flabby legs and arms and potbellies, things that you'd rather not see.

Not that there wouldn't be some lovely bodies to view, but there would be plenty MORE you'd rather NOT see:P

Not all French and Europeans are beautiful you know!!

Maybe the law is really aimed at the nasty men who (un)dress like that.

NOLA Mardi Gras used to be a prurient dream, fleshed and flashed. Also, the gay community in NOLA pulls out all of the stops and you'll see some stuff you ain't nevah seen in Topeka.

But you have to be so drunk that it makes sense, because if you're there and sober, its pretty juvenile. Okay, I'm officially an old fart curmudgeon.

Certain people should not be allowed to be nude.

I will volenter to be flown to Paris, I promis to only let the attractive women go nude! No 300 pound hairy chicks.:eek: :D

I think it makes no sense that since there are two basic models of humans that they cannot sport their perspective equipment, I seems like we are going in reverse.

I'm not allowed to be nude, even under my clothes!
