Trans seals?
Anyone know where I can get seals for a four speed transmission in my old '66 chevy 2 ton?

I found out its a SM420. A lot of rock crawlers guys are putting these old cast iron trannies in their four wheel drive vehicles. I found the complete rebuild kit here: http://www.hermtheoverdriveguy.com/id3.htm

also i believe all seals have a number on them. with this number you can order a new seal from a seal mfgr. as i understand it a seal is a seal is a ....you get the idea.

It looks like I am well into a rebuild now. I pulled the top cover, pto, rear cover to clean things up. Found a rough running bearing so, I have the whole trannie torn down now.
Not too difficult other than being real heavy. Whole rebuild kit is less than $200 and has all the correct parts, gaskets.. Saves me the hassle of chasing down a part here and there.
