Get a road bike and start slowly. Get you mileage/hours up over a period of a couple weeks. I have heard that you have to burn around 3000 calories to get rid of one pound.

The answer is simple...diet & exercise. The execution is more complex!

I went from 205 to 180 from Sept last year to March of this year. All I did was run 2 miles/day, switch from soda to water and eat a small container of yogurt and a handful of nuts for lunch. My breakfast remained the same coffee, cereal & fruit. I ate my normal dinner.
For the first 3 months my weight barely changed but after that it really dropped. I'm still between 180 and 182.

Sounded to me like you work out quite a bit already.

Maybe you need to get a blue collar job, so you'll be exercising all day.

This worked pretty well for me

I've never tried an actual diet before, but a couple of years ago I tried the Atkins Diet. I have run, biked, and lifted weights for nearly thirty years, but never could get rid of the roll of flab around my waist. After doing the Atkins diet for about six months, it was gone.

The idea is to cut out simple carbs which convert into fat very quickly if not burned immediately. You gradually begin to eat carbs after the second week, but you stick to complex carbs which convert more slowly. By eating a lot of protein, you also feed you muscle mass and that improves your metabolic rate.

I'm not the most disciplined guy to ever come down the pike, but I ended up losing about 45 lbs and keeping it off. I'm 52 now and that's the age at which one usually starts beefing up. I was determined not to.

Good luck!

Actually I do about 100 miles/week on my bike, 40k on rollerskis, and about 15 miles running. I swim 1000 twice a week.

I just eat too bloody much. I've already dropped 15 from last year. Now I wanna be back to fighting fit. I want to be an athlete again.

I am a very fit guy so my suggestion to you is to play tennis and rollerblade like a madman. Well, since I don't need to work I play tennis about 6 days a week and I also rollerblade 2 miles every other day with my dog. You will not find an ounce of fat on me so it must be working. Good luck.

PS. I just recently got my friend involved in tennis and he dropped 12 lbs in 3 weeks.

I'm not overweight, just well marbled. I'm at 150. I know what I have to do, just don't like not eating my chopped liver on toast.

Edit: Besides, for ID purposes, it's against the law to lie about your weight on your DL here in Minnesota. If you get caught it's a felony I think.
