Thank You, Mercedes Benz.

Thank you Mercedes for building a safe car. Thank you for spending money on the areas of safety like crumple zones, airbags, and stability control. These few things make all of the difference in every way.

Thank you for selling a car that has passed rigorous tests in safety, quality, and reliability.

Thank you to those engineers who probibally saved my parents lifes. Thank you for building a superior car than that Pontiac that hit my parents on the freeway. Thank you for researching and developing the ESP system found in my dads 1996 SL600 roadster. Without this, he would have spun out of control when the Pontiac hit him in the rear today. With the ESP, he was able to correct and straighten out using only the right land and the shoulder. Thank you for implementing a crumple zone where the car took the brunt of the impact, and the passangers did not. Thank you for implementing the tension retractors in the seat belts, as they held my father and mother in place when he got hit by a Pontiac. Thank you for that automatic rollbar that deployed in the collision he had encountered. Thank you for making ABS standard in an effort to avoid more collisions. Thank you for going above and beyond other brands like Pontiac in terms of safety.

Thank You Mercedes-Benz for giving us the technological masterpiece that saved those that are close to me.

(By the way, my dad was rear ended today. He was rearended on the freeway by a Pontiac that was going over 85 miles per hour. A guy that pulled over as a whitness said he was going 85 and the Pontiac passed him. The SL600 is at the shop, and we are waiting to hear from the adjuster.)

Hopefully, she will be fixed, and all will be well....

Thumbs up MB ad copy

Justin, that sounds like a great MB ad. I'm glad to hear your parents are okay. Events have a strange way of bringing the priorities in our lives to a very fine focus, don't they?

BTW, what happened to the occupants of the Pontiac? I'm guessing they may not have fared so well.

I dont know about the Pontiac drivers. I wasnt there, but I know she couldnt open the passenger door on her car. I know this because she was trying to say the accident was my dads fault and blame him for the damages to her car, and her reasoning was he going 65 (speed limit) in the right lane....

Well now, based upon your previous post you have a witness whose testimony I trust was included in the police report, can't beat that.

Glad your parents are OK, can always get another car, can't replace your folks.

I think that one traffic law that holds fairly consistantly throughout the US is that if someone hits you in the rear, they are always at fault. I am sure she recieved a ticket at the scene and your father did not. The eyewitness will also help your fathers case. She doesn't stand a chance. Probably blabbing on the cell phone. They say inattention is the number one cause of accidents.

I am glad your parents came away uninjured. Who cares about the car, when compared to your parents well being?

one kind of car you never want to hit is a mercedes benz.. either your car is going to get toasted and the mercedes will be fine/repaired.. or they owner if your fault will make you sorry if they loved the car..

i was almost rear ended the other day. i was going 55 slowing down to make a left hand turn on a two way street.. and the woman behind me wasnt slowing down.. i saw her in my rear mirror before she went off the side of the road( i was waiting for the oppertunity to go left) she was on her cellphone.. thank god she didnt hit me.. not only would i have recived very minor wiplash and a laugh at her totaled car.. i would have to sadly look at the nick she would have left in my bumper from her lil mazda...

Wow Justin glad you hear your parents are ok. Sometimes we lose sight of one of the reasons we drive these cars, MB does build some of the safest cars in the world. They have spent and continue to spend massive amounts of money and time on developing more advanced safety features.

What happend? Was the other driver just going 20mph faster, not paying attention and slammed into your parents? Don't accept anything less then a perfect repair.

Justin,

I'm really glad your parents are OK, this is the really important reason for being in a Mercedes, when something like this occurs, the safety the car offers you.

Thank God your folks are OK

You and they are truly worthy of owning cars like these. I believe you said you and your dad are involved in the insurance business too, so you should be fine from that angle. I'd assume you can at least try to get another Mercedes for a rental while the 600 is repaired.

That was a real nice write up-obviously from the heart. We are all with you!!

If you need an excuse for a new SL - now I guess you have one!!!

Parents are a-okay!

Car will be repaired or replaced!

In the end, all will be fine!

Don't mind the person who hit your parents, I mean, what the driver of the Pontiac did was very bad, but she will get what is coming to her now or later.

YING YANG!!! YING YANG!

I am in the insurance business, but am getting out to go to full time college.

My dad is a teacher, and keeps calling me every 3 hours to keep me informed, and to ask for advice.

As for the car - it is going to get fixed. They are going to paint the front bumper and the side skirts to match the fresh paint so it looks nice and clean.

I have some pictures, but am having problems with my SD reader.

Well, I will just join in with everyone else who is wishing your parents well.

If your dad's car was rear-ended, the other driver will be at fault.

My oldest daughter nearly totalled the 300TE only two weeks after getting her license.

She and the car survived. Another testament to MB engineering.

Keep us posted.
