St. Louis style pizza...
What types of regional variations are there on pizza? St. Louis style is paper thin, almost a pastry crust, and not cut in pie-shaped slices, but rather cut in squares. I grew up on LaRosa's in Cincinnati, which is a different animal altogether.

thats weird .... cut into squares... the only pizza i ever had that was in square cut form was a 3 foot diameter ny style with everything on it while in chicago..NYC style is the best...if you need a fork and knife to eat it .. its not a pizza.

Well, Chicago has the stuffed Pizza. I haven't had it since I lived there, but it was good while it lasted. Its almost like a quiche its so thick.

It has to be the sauce...it was on supermarket shelves in St. Louis for a year or 2, then quietly disappeared several years ago. We used to go to LaRosa's after swim meets in the private pool swim league during the summer...Oak Hills Swim and Racquet Club way out in Western Hills...that was about the only time wwe went there.

The pizza offerings in the DC area are pretty weak. Nothing compares with a NY/NJ pizza made by original paisanso! You also can't order an 18" pie, although some places make them but only sell them by the slice. Go figure.
Armand's Pizzaria gets honorable mention for their deep dish pies with generous toppings, their pizza buffet, and the fact that they have been around for ages.
